  1. Now I've got the Heebie Jeebies, Chuck! ← 'BOUT TIME.
  2. That's a lawnmower, right?
  3. Time for me to be the "TURD IN THE PUNCH BOWL". Did not care for these recordings "years ago" and won't spend money now. I'm posting this as some sort of reinforcement for folks on the fence.
  4. This thread gives me the heebie jeebies.
  5. US Verve reissued it in 1994. Total number of tracks was 12 with a playing time of 73:46. Is this what they offer? FWIW, I find $10 downloads without "artwork and liners" to be a rip, unless the president of Universal is at the control panel.
  6. I've been in my basement for years.
  7. It says the $6000 was for the sax and "assorted accessories". Probably has a sun roof, side airbags, traction control etc. That stuff ain't cheap.
  8. This date always repelled me. Sorry.
  9. Since you be talkin' Basie - Prez on Taxi War Dance.
  10. Find a piano. Forget your organ. You can usually find one for little or nothing. Moving it is more than the owner wants to spend. If you are lucky, you will find a Steinway upright. After you get the instrument, work on it yourself - it will add to your music appreciation.
  11. It's really a tie. Year to year one would lead, then the other.
  12. this is my best guess, without digging out old files: 1 AEC - People In Sorrow 2 AEC - Les Stances A Sophie 3 Roscoe Mitchell - Nonaah 4 Air - Air Time 5 Warne Marsh - All Music
  13. Concerning Prestige, Groove Holmes' Soul Message (and other couplings with Misty) was gigantic in the last half of the '60s and I didn't witness any other Prestige session selling in such quantities. No telling what time has done to the sales numbers vs. other "classics".
  14. The only Strata East record to have significant sales was Gil Scott-Heron's Winter In America. It was huge by jazz standards and almost brought the label down. I think the Slugs records outsold the Music Inc record mentioned.
  15. Want me to respond?
  16. My answer is NO, but for some folks the answer is yes. So, there you go. Twinkies are a delicacy for some folks and junk food for others.
  17. Uncle Sam wants you! Careful, he may be gay. Meaning, you'd be f...ed in the end.
  18. Duh! Pretty big question for a 15th post. By who/whom/whose/etc?
  19. The '62 Chicago recordings were made by Chess/Argo. At the time of recording Prestige had nothing to do with the sessions.
  20. Urbie Green Septet on Blue Note.
  21. Six months after we moved away from Boston.
  22. Roscoe Mitchell's solo on the "Nick the Greek's" 45 Whole Lotta Soul. Julian Priester ain't bad either.
  23. Thanks for the mention. I do appreciate it.
  24. Probably neither. The holes have always been there. The difference is probably the age of the player and the "scum" on the lens. There has to be some sort of rupture or chemical reaction (from the label side) to damage the metal particles. This (in all cases I'm familiar with) causes a brownish discolor of the metal layer.
  25. Most of these questions can be answered by listening to the recordings - or is this an academic question? Listening is the next best thing to a primary source.
