  1. Oh, you be talkin' 'bout work. I was talkin' 'bout something different.
  2. I always saw this record as an unfortunate "behind the curve" document. I got it when it was first issued.
  3. Unlike you, I think the early Prestige sides show an affinity with Herbie Nichols and other "Brooklyn brothers" (Hope nd Weston) "off kilter" concerning harmony. I was really bummed by his career course.
  4. I might try to dub a version with a "groovin' track" for you.
  5. Hey, I love Muddy's music. No disrespect meant on that account. That pic always had "other meanings" for me. I was "around" Muddy a bunch circa 1965-1982. For all Waters fans, get the MCA set called "Rollin' Stone / the golden anniversary collestion" (Aristocrat/Chess recordings 1947-52) and "Hoochie Coochie Man" (Chess recordings 1952-58) issued in a limited edition by Hip-O Select. This is the shit!
  6. A really negative post has not been sent.
  7. We all owe much respect to artists like this - fine craftsmen/women making the music we all love. Thanks to FFA (Paul) for reminding us.
  8. Not a clue about the manufacturers but I only buy Maxell and Memorex and have had no problems. You can always find good prices on one or the other.
  9. I'm sure that pose/look was familiar to countless women who gave birth to his numerous children.
  10. I think I was at that gig - no wait, my father was only 14 months old then.
  11. Around here local churches have "banded together" and are running caravans of trucks to Mississippi and Louisiana.
  12. Actual LISTENING will answer all your questions. Is that too tough?
  13. I'm logged in as Atilla! Correction - that's Attila.
  14. Not sure what's still in print but High Frequency has not been reissued.
  15. Too lazy to send an email. but "The Message" was recorded at Rudy's - not some studio in NYC.
  16. I think he's standing in line, waiting to be interviewed for the FEMA opening.
  17. Thanks Chris. It is good to be back.
  18. That name brings back memories - bought a lot of stuff from him in the 80's. ← Dan might be/have been a fond memory, but I remember the Kharma lps of great musicians in terrible sound.
  19. Rick's Groove Yard is still in business. I talked to him about 10 days ago. His operation is currently at 5555 Claremont Ave, Oakland. Rick is a great guy to do business with. I have been working with him since 1975.
  20. "Flowers of Evil" (1897) by Georges de Feure.
  21. Don't ignore Bobby Timmons "Soul Time" - a quartet date with Blue, Sam Jones and Art Blakey.
  22. I used to have a stereo HiFi and the pressing was wonderful. I upset Lester Koenig by mentioning I preferred the original mastering to the Contemporary reissue. I did think the image was sharper and the highs were crisper. Ed Michel told me Les was irritated for days.
