  1. Simpler for some than others.
  2. Gee, you make that sound bad. ← Might be your "issue" not mine.
  3. Shorty was "important" (or noticed) as an arranger, not a player. He did everything "neat" and "professionally". FWIW, Art Pepper hated his guts.
  4. My experience in the "pro arena" says many times 1x burns are too hot and deliver many digital errors. The preferred "balanced" burn is 4x. Anything higher is problematical.
  5. I've lost a lot of sleep over that crime.
  6. Who the heck is May Lou Donaldson and why would she be at your door? Bill collector?
  7. All the best. Hope all goes smoothly for a while.
  8. Hope you live to enjoy many more years.
  9. Thank you for the information. I will not be free to attend but will be there "in spirit". All the best.
  10. Are you using that word as an adjective? Or as a verb? ← He's in Texas.
  11. "In context" it is all worth having.
  12. I think you are thinking of Dew-Chin which is a rare beverage. It takes all morning for the drink to drop.
  13. Where's my barf bag? Once again, thanks america. No dis meant to the lucky winners. Geez! Back to news from New Orleans.
  14. Paul is correct.
  15. I bought the lp when issued. If you care about the "travels" of AA, buy the disc. If not, go elsewhere. Do not buy the disc if you don't know the Ayler "milestones".
  16. Back to the original image - does this guy crap into the blades?
  17. I like this date a bunch. My current copy is a Toshiba vinyl pressing. I've told this story before - about a month after it was first issued in the US I was in the Jazz Record Mart and encountered Kenny Washington. After "how ya' doin'"s, I mentioned how much I liked this date. Kenny "jumped down my throat" with "Damn, all the cats are into The Rajah". This Morgan date was released at the same time and seemed to be the "in" release. When questioned about the Mobley record, Kenny came back with negatives about Donald Byrd. I still enjoy both dates.
  18. During that time, Max was "out of it" concerning what was going on in clubs, in private, on the street, etc. With his recordings, he seemed to be trying to do his best to be "hip" but other records by his "sidemen" were much closer to the mark. Max "thought" too much for his own good. Maybe you had to be there, but I think you should be able to follow the threads now.........
  19. Oh, you be talkin' 'bout work. I was talkin' 'bout something different.
  20. I always saw this record as an unfortunate "behind the curve" document. I got it when it was first issued.
  21. Unlike you, I think the early Prestige sides show an affinity with Herbie Nichols and other "Brooklyn brothers" (Hope nd Weston) "off kilter" concerning harmony. I was really bummed by his career course.
  22. I might try to dub a version with a "groovin' track" for you.
  23. Hey, I love Muddy's music. No disrespect meant on that account. That pic always had "other meanings" for me. I was "around" Muddy a bunch circa 1965-1982. For all Waters fans, get the MCA set called "Rollin' Stone / the golden anniversary collestion" (Aristocrat/Chess recordings 1947-52) and "Hoochie Coochie Man" (Chess recordings 1952-58) issued in a limited edition by Hip-O Select. This is the shit!
