  1. Only spent any "real time" in Philly once and the lasting memory of a long walk was the stench while walking through the city hall courtyard and arches. The only "urban experience" to top this was homeless guys taking dumps in the shrubs of the Boston Commons.
  2. I will post a more detailed response later but want to compare this list to my collection, as it stands now: 1917-42 have everything on one disc or another 1943-59 ditto, but where is Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers - BN 1518? 1960-79 missing 3 of these 1980-2000 only have one of these I have worked on a list like this with a small group and know how difficult it is. Edit to say the above stats refer to the "expanded" list, not the 25. Guess I'm behind the curve on post '59 recordings.
  3. This makes it really difficult to program your listening in recording order unless you are working from some "unlimited" wheel 'o' discs. I say leave them at the end of each disc and give the take numbers so specialists can recreat the real deal.
  4. New jobs used to get me going. I got "f***ed (really badly) twice and stopped. I hope your new opportunity works as you dream it might. It sounds good. All the best.
  5. I had this and a couple of lps worth in a 5 disc set on MF, but they are (sadly) gone. Hines and Budd go "way back" and I have very fond memories of them as part of a Hines reunion band at the Chicago Jazz Festival.
  6. Jim is starting to post in top 40 pop keyboard lingo. The kids are gonna luv him! ←
  7. You blaming Rouse? Hey everybody, Jim just laid it on a tenor player!
  8. Has this been out under another title? It looks like "Tenors Head On" but with Art Pepper? Kevin ← Half was reissued as bonus material on the US cd version of Tenors Head On and the rest on the US cd version of The Artistry of Pepper.
  9. Is the "jazz world" too tough for you "New Englanders"? Shame. Tomorrow is friggin' Saturday! Grow some hair!
  10. If you meant Lucille Bogan, I suggest you "shave 'em dry".
  11. For me, Dunlop was the "bouncy" equivialant of (dating myself) Debbie Reynolds, Doris Day or Sally Field. The problem was Rock Hudson was not on the next pillow, it was MONK.
  12. Riley was a snooze, 'cept he was there for the best Monk Columbia (IMO) "Live at the It Club". At his point I wish to mention the lp version (edited by Teo) had much more impact than the "restored" cd version. Wish I'd kept the lps.
  13. Taken one "click" away from the other.
  14. Nice shot of the Plaza.
  15. Maybe he found a test pressing of BN 1553 and had a heart attack.
  16. I gotta second that, but I think we agree that it isn't worth arguing about. -_- ← Make it three. I'm with Larry and John. For me, Dunlop is as cute as a Hallmark. I never got the whole deal.
  17. Never said anything that didn't need to be said myself! -_-
  18. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oz is the MAN.
  19. I should say Uptown does not have it. I have not heard it but I know who has it. Clunky, the Fru 'n' Brew Uptown project is still possible but not a current priority.
  20. A copy did survive.
  21. Not very but I'm going to bed now. I hope I remember this thread in the morning so I can return.
  22. You want humor, I suggest you try elsewhere.
  23. That response deserves an explaination, if for no other reason than to find out wtf you think I intended.
