  1. A favorite memory - March 11, 1968 Ramsey quietly slipped into the Ter-Mar (Chess) Studio to sit next to Fontella Bass and observe the recording of Roscoe Mitchell's "Congliptious".
  2. I love this recording Geez -- I thought I was the only one who knew of it and loved it.
  3. I just discovered they have a number of concerts streaming HERE.
  4. Listening to the Cline brothers today
  5. Anthony and James will be at Edgefest next month.
  6. From this box, the Bartok concerto with Dorati and the Dallas Symphony - 1946.
  7. I remember, a number of years back, someone mentioned his signature on the back of the records looked like "Crud Taylor". I've never shaken that response.
  8. Domestic BN cds ( Conns, RVGs and "Standards") make 7 cds. The BN vault may produce some more alternates, but...
  9. Certainly no jazz band would break protocol.
  10. That is the line-up on the box and the listing in Bruyninckx, undoubtedly Lord's source.
  11. I take it you need a color printer. I gave up on those.
  12. Steve Swell was there the 3 times I saw Ullmann. I think they were at our house one night.
  13. Got a copy a few years back from Ullmann. I see it is on Bandcamp
  14. Simple, he was on the scene in LA. Notice this was released well after the fact - was Granz even alive when it came out?
  15. I was just disappointed they played that card.
  16. Ever spend any time with Criss? He could quickly become prickly.
  17. It was a stupid statement crafted for the gullible.
  18. My old friend Bob Porter assembled 14 JATP lps for Verve. The bulk of them were from the '50s. Probably the basis for the new set. Dates I know: Rich and Krupa The Drum Battle 1952/54 Ella Fitzgerald Coleman Hawkins 1949/50/57 The Rarest Concerts 1946/53 Bird and Pres at Carnegie Hall 1949 Norgran Blues 1950 The Trumpet Battle 1952 One O’clock Jump 1953 The Challenges 1954 Blues in Chicago 1955 Ella Fitzgerald Oscar Peterson Stan Getz / JJ Johnson 1957 Lester Young Carnegie Blues 1946/53/57
  19. That box is 1944-1949 - the new one is "from the 1950s".
  20. I think that was the vinyl edition.
