As I understand it, Nesuhi Ertegun was working for Contemporary / Good Time Jazz in the early '50s and moved to NYC in '55 to join his brother at Atlantic. When Ornette ventured East, Lester Koenig suggested he hook up with Nesuhi.
I ordered a disc from an Amazon vendor 2 days ago. The label was created Monday in Niagara Falls, NY. I live about 20 miles away, in Buffalo. Tracking says my order departed Pittsburgh, PA this morning.
I bought a Euro PD set called Archie Shepp Early Albums Collection because on the front it says "Includes the complete works of the New York Contemporary Five". As you can see from my review on Amazon, this is BS. I returned it.
