I just got off the phone from with one of their reps about the order. She said that they tell all customers to expect to wait 3-4 weeks for the order to arrive. I felt like Clooney in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"; "Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!" As long as I know it is going to take that long to deliver going into this, it shouldn't be a problem in the future. I guess I will spin my Miller '68 while I wait on the Dead's version!

Going by posts at the Dead site and talking to fellow Australian heads, it's a mess. And when you do get through, chasing up a problem, customer service is hopeless. I got three releases yesterday no probs - RT2.1 and 2.2 and To Tarrapin - but tore the covers of two of the sets trying to remove the discs. It's funny you mention the customer service because I had to call them last Friday because I accidently ordered two Dick's Picks #26 (one for a friend who was at one of the shows). Dropping one item from the order seemed like a pretty simple request but the operator was really lost. They claim it is resolved but I have a feeling it has not. Thanks for heads up on tearing the covers since I have RT2.1 and 2.2 coming in the order.

Hey folks, What has been fellow board members reaction to the processing time with dead.net orders? I ordered from them online last Thursday and have yet to receive a shipping confirmation. Is this normal for them?

Thank for starting this thread. A family friend recently called me from Florida the other day to find out if I knew if Herman Foster was still playing with Lou Donaldson. He said that he knew him from Chicago in the 1950s.

Happy Birthday Moody! One my favorite musicians. I saw him peform two nights, four sets this past January with the McG Quintet at the Dakota and each set was a treat. A real wondeful guy.

I have spent most of the afternoon with The Columbia Small Group Swing Sessions (1953-1962).

It was my first time seeing him and I had a good time. I enjoyed his sound on electric, which he primarily played, but loved his sound on acoustic.

I just finished listening to the rest of the set. I am going to have spin this one a few times because so far the 2nd and 3rd CDs are not grabbing me like the first CD and the material recorded with Lou Rawls.

Tonight & tomorrow night at the Dakota: James Moody with the MCG Jazz Quartet (trombonist Jay Ashby, guitarist Martin Ashby, bassist Dwayne Dolphin, and drummer Roger Humphries)

This year I was really surprised by this one when I bought it in the J & R sale last Winter. I will have to spin it again but I recall everyone having the right type of energy with the groove being pushed further than I expected. Maybe I will play tonight.

I am a little slow posting it but I saw the Bill Carrothers Trio at the Artists' Quarter on Friday night. I hadn't seen Bill play since seeing him perform with Dewey Redman many years back. Quite inventive and entertaining playing from the trio.
