  1. This is one of the first sets I bought and remains one of my favorites.
  2. Got my copy of Cat on a Hot Thin Groove from Amazon.com today. The book was in bad shape. The spine was broken and the pages (as a whole) were separated from the binding. The book is rather large and oddly sized. I just wonder if as it was being packed it was held by it's front or back cover with the rest of the book left to dangle... Amazon.com will make it right. I've only had to use their return process a few times, but each time they've come through. I did flip through the pages and looked at some of the covers and cartoons. I opted for the replacement rather than the refund. So I guess that says something.
  3. At the time all of the items I ordered indicated "Usually ships in 1 - 2 business days." I even made a change to my order when one indicated 7-14. Now going back to their site I notice that one of my items says 7-14. I guess there was a mad rush on, Junior's Cookin'.
  4. Has anyone's online order shipped yet? I placed an order early Thursday the 26th (all items in-stock) and my order status is still stuck on "processing". I realize we're just coming off a holiday weekend, but I kind of expected some movement by now.
  5. Ouch!
  6. Happy birthday Jim! I got you a pony.
  7. I'm going to be in town Nov. 23-27. I'll be checking the websites for Village Vanguard and Jazz Standard, but if anyone hears of anything ahead of time I'd love to catch a show while I am there. Thanks!
  8. * I hate turtlenecks. I have such a weak neck. Plus if you wear a turtleneck it's like being strangled by a really weak guy ... all day. And if you wear a turtleneck and a backpack it's like a weak midget trying to bring you down. * I was at a club and they had blacklights everywhere. A blacklight is a light that makes everyone look cool... except me, 'cause I was under the impression that the mustard stain came out. * Whenever I walk, people try to hand me out flyers. And when someone tries to hand me out a flyer, it's kinda like they're saying, "Here — you throw this away." * I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later. * I got my hair highlighted, because I felt some strands were more important than others. * I wanna hang a map of the world in my house. Then I'm gonna put pins into all the locations that I've travelled to. But first, I'm gonna have to travel to the top two corners of the map so that it will not fall off the wall. * I rent a lot of cars, you know, 'cause I go on the road. I rent cars and when I drive a rental car, I don't know what's going on with it, right? So a lot of times I drive, like, for ten miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it really doesn't say a lot for the "emergency brake." It's really not an "emergency brake", it's an "emergency make-the-car-smell-funny lever." * I once saw a forklift lift a crate of forks. It was so damn literal. * I got some tartar control toothpaste. I still got tartar, but that sh**'s under control. If the tartar gets outta line, I'm like, "Come on, man, you know the deal. Fall in! You crazy-ass tartar..." I got so much tartar, I don't have to dip my fish sticks in sh**!...That's actually kinda gross. * I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it. * I type at one hundred and one words a minute. But it's in my own language. * I don't own a cell phone or a pager. I just hang around everyone I know, all the time. If someone needs to get a hold of me they just say "Mitch," and I say "What?" and turn my head slightly ... * I wrote a script for a guy, and he said he liked it but he thought that I needed to rewrite it. I said, "F*** that, I'll just make a copy." * I used to be a hot-tar roofer. Yeah, I remember that ... day. * I had a coldsore, and I put carmex on it cuz carmex is supposed to heal coldsores. I dunno if it does , but it will make them shiny and more noticeable... * An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You would never see an escalator "Temporarily Out of Order" sign, just "Escalator Temporarily Stairs... Sorry for the Convenience ... We apologize for the fact that you can still get up there." * I wrote my friend a letter using a highlighting pen but he could not read it, he thought I was just trying to show him certain parts of a piece of paper. * I was in a bar, minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit. * I wish I could play Little League now, I'd kick some f***ing ass.... they'd back up now. * I played golf, I'm not good at golf, I never got good at it. I never got a hole in one, but I did hit a guy. And that's way more satisfying. You're supposed to yell "fore." But I was too busy mumbling, "there ain't no way that's gonna hit him." .... I hit a guy in one. What's par for hitting a guy? One. If you hit a guy in two, you are an A**hole. * I mumble a lot offstage, I’m a mumbler. If I’m walking with a friend and I say something, he won’t hear me. He’ll say, ‘What?’ So I’ll say it again, but once again he doesn’t hear me, so he says, ‘What?’ But really it’s just some insignificant shit that I’m saying, but now I’m yelling, ‘That tree is far away!’ * My roommate says, "I need to shave and use the shower. Does anyone need to use the bathroom?" It's like some weird-ass quiz where he reveals the answer first... * My friend said to me "Man, this weather is trippy." I said to him, "No man, it's not the weather that is trippy, perhaps it is the way we perceive it that is indeed trippy..." then I thought, man, I should have just said, 'yeah' ... -Mitch Hedberg R.I.P.
  9. I just saw him a few months ago in Say Goodnight Gracie - amazing one man show. RIP
  10. Did I see this available for pre-order at CDUniverse? Is there a better way to order (more beneficial to Chuck) ?
  11. I had a limited CD budget on this trip and had already stopped by Jazz Record Mart and Virgin. (I had also been dragged through Nordstroms and the Lucky Brand Jean store - nothing for me at either of those though ) I didn't pick up anything there but I did take 3 Slide Hampton CDs and had them autographed by the man himself. Spirit Of The Horn Roots Jazz With A Twist/Explosion! My fiancée and I introduced ourselves before the first set. Mr. Hampton was incredibly nice. He said of the three CDs I had brought he really liked Roots. It always makes the experience that much more enjoyable when the artist is approachable and willing to talk with fans. I understand that celebrity is a difficult thing to live with and do my best to back off when I sense that the artist is not receptive. Mr. Hampton made his fans feel like welcome guests. He's definitely a class act.
  12. I love Star Wars and am unashamed!
  13. Nice photo Mark. I was at the Friday show. It was a lot of fun. The DePaul band was good. There were some really talented kids there. The room was more packed than usual...lots of proud parents They were recording the show for a future album release. After the first set my fiancée and I went out and checked out the the mobile studio. It was a pretty cool set up. The engineers were very nice in explaining how it all worked. I'm looking forward to the album. And maybe as Pee Wee Marquette once said, "When you applaud for the different passages your hands go right on the records there, and when they play them over and over throughout the country, you may be someplace and say 'Well that's my hand on one of those records, that I dug down at Birdland....err, uhh...Jazz Showcase"
  14. ...long trip from Tulsa! About an hour and 20 minutes by plane Heading up there for a nice weekend with my new fianceé.
  15. I'll be there Friday.
  16. 20 % off regular price of one item through May 16th
  17. any chance for a public update here?
  18. Dusted off the old PayPal account and got in on the pre-order. Looking forward to another great disc from Organissimo!
  19. Happy birthday Mark.
  20. I'm flying soon. I'll check too. Meanwhile I've been searching their site but haven't found the article yet.
  21. Clandy- I've applied for a business method patent for "touching a nearby metal surface to safely discharge static electricity". I'll grant a free, irrevocable license to anyone on the Organissimo board, but all others must pay a license fee every time they use this method.
  22. I always touch something metal other than my electronics to discharge any static electricity. Just a habit from my PC tinkering days.
  23. Interesting list of credits at Internet Movie Database (IMDB)
