  1. Ragtime doesn't count for Cagney - they had to embalm him before he could do the role -
  2. best idea I've heard in a while - especially since lp/78s are the only medium we know will physically survive the passage of time -
  3. Lenny Bruce's wife: "Let your chicken get your dinner!" (after she caught him in the yard with said partner)
  4. no, and neither has Stevie -
  5. actually, some wiseass told him that was the microphone - he was presenting the best spoken word LP award to Helen Keller, who unfortunately couldn't find the awards ceremony -
  6. one set left - the usual - $125 plus shipping conus - a promo, but mint, all complete - act now and I'll throw in the "male shrinkage" DVD -
  7. I find ebay is getting more and more risky - after having maybe 2 problems in 5 years, I have had to contest 3 out of the last 4 deals I made through paypal - in each case I got my money back, fortunately, but they were all sleazy deals from people with good feedback - so much for that -
  8. as I recall, WNEW became the progressive rock station in NYC when WOR either closed down or faded out (or maybe they were competitors, don't remember) - Murray the K was on WOR, did great shows, and I remember Scott Muni from WNEW - by the way, someday I will tell the story of how I invented Album Oriented Rock as a station format -
  9. just a self-plug, on my latest CD I do a song, "Oi Death" which is inspired by Boggs's version of "Oh Death" which I learned off of a "live" at Newport album - also, there is film of him singing that is available on a DVD, if I can find it I'll post the title - to me he is one of the major performers of that whole era - both the 1920s and the Folk Revival -
  10. try being a Jew in Maine - getting tired of having to wear this huge J on my chest -
  11. probably - and Strom Thurmond wouldn't have been allowed to marry one of the Raelets -
  12. I'm waiting for the 25 bit versions -
  13. to get away from those damn Brubeck reissues -
  14. yes, even Hillary made on a comment about it, in her Sunday interview: "Brubeck's audience, in the face of critical rejection, turns bitterly to its LPs and old Downbeat polls. They are BITTER BITTER BITTER."
  15. Me: Chickens are over-rated - and because of their continued efforts against me, I can't get any gigs -
  16. I was referring to the Jethro in Homer And..., not Max Baer Jr. - and wondering how we know he is not the one playing on the soundtrack -
  17. I'm surprised because Jethro had real jazz chops on mandolin - are you sure he's not playing? Check out some clips on Youtube - he had brilliant technique -
  18. I think it woulda sold better with a little cheesecake -
  19. I thought they were made from LPs -
  20. don't misunderstand - I am actually trying to increase ratings for the show - I think THE PEOPLE should reach their own verdict - we don't need no Judge Wapner - BRING IT ON DAVE
  21. he is extremely nice (talked to him only once) - I just find that listening to him play is like watching someone who's shuffling a deck of cards but who never gets around to playing the damn card game -
  22. "I think he's playing better in his eighties than he did in his forties." well, I would hope so - (another cheap but accurate shot) sorry, Dave, but they say controversy is good for ratings - LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE bring on the musical super delegates -
  23. please pardon the cheap shot, but I've always felt that Brubeck was just giving us his impression of what it must be like to be a jazz musician -
  24. sounds like my old campaign slogan - only the other way around -
