i have 3 titles from this new 24bit/96khz series: 'happenings' 'maiden voyage' 'a night in tunisia'. being a huge fan and collector of the original TOCJ series, i was curious as to whether the engineers at toshiba could do anything more with 'em. to my ears, they have: extended resolution and soundstage that seem to take the TOCJ sound to the next level. by comparison, the japanese RVG series, or the RVG series in general, i'm not so exceited about. just my two cents, -e-

ps: the one title i've always wished for a nice remaster on is 'matador'... very wasted in it's current state in which all the instruments are mashed together.

kevin - the japanese RVG of leapin' and lopin' is oh-so-choice... makes all other pressings of it obsolete. cheers, -e-

why the *hell* do artists and designers have to re-invent the wheel seemingly every time out on box sets? we want to keep it very simple and accessible. jewlcases augmented with a nice lavish book inside a cardboard box with a tasteful graphic/photo combination is all it takes to makes us happy and want to buy your product. listen to us - we're your market, -e- ---

one word: never has a box actually kept me from enjoying it the way this packaging has... -e-

eric is not only a top-flight player, but a fine young man as well. i had the pleasure of spending an evening sitting through some music @ smoke with him at the same table once, as we're both from the same part of the country. he can play it all - from driving challegne and suprise to beautiful ballad. enjoy! -e-

i own 'latin shadows' and can't for the life of me recall shirley singing... IF she does, it's the chorus chant of 'soul souce' at an almost inaudible level. -e-

i'm the only person i know who can listen to "coltrane at birdland" followed by a morricone soundtrack punctuated by devo's "duty now for the future"... -e-

forgive me, it *is* saotome... the work i posted is among what i consider the least of his work. he illustrates a page in swing journal each month that way surpasses this coverart. the current december issue has a bitchin' miles 'n' cannonball from 1958. it seems michiharu-san's work is less graphic than DSM's, but is cool nonetheless. hey, thanks for the warm welcome everyone. now about that herbalife... -e-
