  1. My worry wouldn't be that it isn't legitimate, but that a CD-R won't last as long as CDs. I've had several CD-Rs go bad within a few years, but even my earliest CD from 1983 plays fine. I used the legitimacy pretext in order to get a response from Candid, given that relyles apparently had been unsuccessful in getting one. I guess it worked.
  2. You better keep that email, in case you ever want to re-sell that disc to anyone else - as proof that it's a legitimate copy. Funny you should mention that--I just got through folding up a copy and sliding it into the jewel case cover (great--or neurotic--minds think alike ).
  3. I recently purchased Jaki Byard's "Blues for Smoke" on Candid and, like relyles, was (unpleasantly) suprised to find a CD-R inside the jewel case. I sent an email inquiry to Candid, and just received the following reply:
  4. Don't ruin it for the rest of us! Why? You think they'll notice 278 orders going to the same address? Won't the postman hate you? Good thing I don't deliver mail on his route. Yeah, it is a good thing. You'd probably snatch all of my CD deliveries, since we seem to have similar tastes.
  5. Don't ruin it for the rest of us! Why? You think they'll notice 278 orders going to the same address? Won't the postman hate you? OK, so maybe 278 was a slight exaggeration.
  6. And each one of those can be used one time (i.e., you can get a total of 2 free CDs--plus shipping and--for some of us--tax, of course).
  7. Does this mean that you're not interested in trading for the Wolf Biermann CD? You know that's not an even trade!! ...let me throw in a Miles Plugged Nickel box set too, then we'll call it even. Deal. Now it's a matter of public record.
  8. Hell, I look at people in the 90s and think that! I look in the mirror and think that.

  10. Miles/Trane is now in "Last Chance."
  11. Have to admit I checked my set (I've had it for almost 3 years) and I'm ok. I've played the set a couple of times but feared I'd been "brain dead" part of the time. I thought I was getting up to speed on some of the music more quickly than normal. Nothing like a wee bit of repetition! Thanks for the recs by the way. I just got their Bartok set in the mail today (not from yourmusic - just call my "the fed," as I thought I should inject some cash into the music industry at more old fashioned prices. Having checked out other quartets' versions from the library I have a feeling the Takacs still be a steal on my part.) If you haven't gotten it yet, you might also want to check out the Takacs' Schubert CD at yourmusic: http://www.yourmusic.com/browse/album/Taka...CO_14648_ALBUMS I haven't heard this CD yet (I have other recordings of these two quartets), but I do have it on order.
  12. Where'd you get a photo of my garage?
  13. You didn't like sitting in my lap?
  14. They're on to us!

  16. You and I both. How 'bout some group therapy?

  18. I just went frickin' nuts with a bunch of 3-CD orders.

    help

Damn. I was hoping you could send me some nice lean pastrami.
  20. Yeah, right.
  21. My Pepper box arrived today. Not sure when I'll get to dive into it, but I'm really looking forward to it (already have the 4 individual CDs). Big thanks to Erik and Mike for the head's up on this one. And as for Newbury Comics, what can I say that hasn't already been said?
  22. Yep. I'm currently on a strict "running low" diet when it comes to Mosaics (unless, of course, a terrific deal on one of the Universal sets happens to come my way ).
  23. Allen, take your meds.
  24. I'd be willing to trade you one Wolf Biermann CD for all of those.
