  1. Remembering Peter Maxwell Davies ...
  2. "Dinah Washington The Complete Roulette Sessions"
  3. I'm always hopeful, but cautious when reading claims of "cures" when what is often meant is that promising trials are taking place. British woman becomes one of the first cancer patients to be injected with new tumour-destroying vaccine
  4. In honor of the late Nikolaus Harnoncourt...
  5. I like em both - especially "The Price You Got to Pay to Be Free" (y'all!) Forever, I'll remember my dear mother barging into my bedroom accusing me of stealing her copy of "The Price...". It ended with me having to go thru her stash of LPs just to show her that I actually had my own copy too. Soul Zodiac got lots of play too! 8-track, reel-to-reel, and LPs...
  6. I had no idea! Me and the missus are hoping to come out to Austin to see Magma on March 27 at the Mohawk.
  7. I'm reminded of this album every day (in a good way), 'cause I'm nearly always drinking something out of one of the set of four glasses that came as an exclusive. thanks again! --- Now playing: Edson Zampronha - Trama Nudo Flujo
  8. This album got so much play in our house, that it's thoroughly ingrained in my memory. A fan...with many more albums to come later. R --- Now playing: Staff Benda Bilili - Sopeka
  9. The great Shankar Ghosh has died.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OboQtlJ9M5oThere's also a wonderful, audio only, YouTube performancewith Nikhil Banerjee that's worth hearing and a video of Ghoshwith sarod player Ayaan Ali Khan that's a meditative treat too.
  10. One of many favorites from Ogerman:

  12. Don't be surprised if your shows are gone after the end of the month. Live 365 is in serious trouble these days. They've laid off most of their employees and vacated their office. A few weeks ago, I contacted a fellow I know with a Live 365 program that's been going for 16 years (it revisits Triad Radio of 70's Chicago). I asked him if he'd heard the news and he said that the show is gone at the end of the month. He's considering another online platform. R --- Now playing: Olivier Messiaen - La Nativite du Seigneur (1935): (9) Dieu parmi nous
  13. Is it not the drummer/percussionist from Ra's band? I'm seeing Chancey there too - which would be around that time of '77.
  14. Love the Transition flyer from '72. "Transition" and "Triad" were my musical lifelines. But, I haven't been able to find out what happened to Earl McGhee. A fellow I spoke with from WNIB began working there in '74 and didn't know who I was talking about. I even named my first radio show "Transition" back in the day. I know what happened to "Scorpio" and talk regularly with Saul "Triad" Smaizys, but Earl's whereabouts remains a mystery to me. Thanks for sharing! [ The "J." in McGhee's name is helpful!]
  15. Surprised to see her name mentioned at the O-Board. Wonderful woman who was so utterly and completely devoted to Nam June Paik. Here's a duet (while an assistant holds the cello steady) that we did on Sept. 12, 1982 when I was young enough to have a flat butt. I've had the "pleasure" of having Karen Finley place my head between her tittys while she slapped me with them for about a minute, but I don't have any pics of that.

    Jimi Hendrix

    This is just plain wrong.
  19. A couple of months ago, I was listening to a live performance of a work dedicated to John Cage. What was unusual is that it was a new work composed by George Lewis - mostly anti-Cage in his recent book A Power Stronger Than Itself.... It was a good work that used a transcribed "Baby" Dodds solo in various places if I remember correctly. During applause, he surprised me further by actually being there to accept it. We talked later, but I didn't have the heart to bring up this paradox that was spinning around in my brain. A very nice guy.
  20. Thanks! "Cleave" is one of the contronyms that makes you wonder what the original meaning was for this phrase.
  21. Sorry to hear this. What a great name: Panbanisha. "Pan" is the genus, but is there a translation of this full word? Bonobo is a good music project too.
  22. Love it. My second favorite recording ever.
