  2. Part of her last stand-up performance...
  3. The first two LPs were on Sussex, but later were distributed by Buddah <sic>. Probably one of the greatest Sussex LPs was the Live Bill Withers double. Lean On Me was on that label too. Sixto's Australian LPs were on Blue Goose (not the "Yazoo" Blue Goose). Rodriguez would pull a "Miles" onstage and play with his back to the audience, so that may have not helped his career. I've often wondered how his records would've sounded if he had had David Axelrod as his arranger and producer.
  4. Thanks for the info. "Coming from Reality" is another good one from the early 70's. Being in Australia, you probably knew of his rare live album. Strange, it was presented in limited edition there, but I was able to snag a copy while working for a distributor here in the States. I guess this film and the Ai Weiwei film will be the two I see this year.
  5. It's no longer "Kraft", but "Mondelez" ("mohn-dah-LEEZ")
  6. Update: "Dear improv lovers, Good news, we have hit the 300 reservations-mark! We are now in the process of putting together the photobook with Pieter Boersma and gathering all the materials that will make up the boxed catalogue. We've got some photos to show you our progress." "At your request we will offer the possibility to pick up the box at a special event. We are working towards a date at the end September, but exact date, time and location will be revealed in our next update." "A few details that were not yet certain when we opened for reservations have now been confirmed. The box will contain some never before released material from a radio broadcast marking the birth of ICP, baptized ICP000. With this new addition to the catalogue, the total number of discs in this box will be 52 cd's and 2 dvd's!" "The box will also contain a blueprint of the fabled 'camel-chair' as constructed during ICP's performance of 'Met welbeleefde groet van de kameel' (With Sincerest Regards from the Camel)." http://www.icporchestra.com/icpbox/

  8. I agree. I think there's a "spacier" improvised vibe to ITO using a Rhodes than there was using an Arp Odyssey on Layers.
  9. Are you taking a piss behind that barn?
  10. only if it's in bush country. little did she know that he was dyslexic.
  11. This came out over 5 years ago. It's not as good as the Nina Simone, because the mixers did too much messing about with her voice. Mostly 30's material if I remember right.
  12. BBC News
  13. Knowing (or "knowing of") someone may have little difference between the two realms, but I was referring more to the idea of "knowing = friendship" that is often assumed in social media.
  14. I got an email a couple of hours ago that my old band has recorded three songs for tonight's episode of Futurama. Since I don't have cable (and I really thought that this show was cancelled years ago), does anyone know if they archive recent episodes online somewhere? Thanks.
  15. Really got that autotune ramped up!
  16. Wow. OK, this is news to me. This all surfaced when I was away from here for a year. Man...really gets you thinking (again) about these social "friendships" that people go on about. Didn't know him except seeing him here and, I think, on JazzCorner, but I have to hope that he had no direct deleterious effect on any of you here. I say "direct" because I can't help but think there's got to be some "psychic" healing that needs to be attended to if one is to take these social forums earnestly. I don't know what else to say...
  17. Had no idea that you had a blog. I've tried to get that "infinite scrolling" script to work on my site to no avail. It's a shame about New Albion, but it would seem that the possibilities still exist and they're unable or unwilling to adapt. Some of those releases are so old, that they could conceivably be seen as introductions for a new generation of listeners. oh well...
  18. Sixty hours and 831 works
