  1. as you (and we all know...) Sometimes you just get in the mood for something VERY specific.... man, you've been listening to a lot of this one lately. Anita was awesome---sorry I missed that set. Disc 9!?!---damn, I don't remember it being that large of a set!!!
  2. Anita O'Day... disc 9.. Why does she remind me of Glenn Close.... ???? or Kathleen Turner circa 1981's Body Heat...
  3. It's mostly on Blue note... given the 70th anniversary yesterday... :excited: Happy B-Day.. Worth a listen... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=99017823
  4. thanks.... I did find the previous threads... ... was discussed in another thread as well, but don't ask me to find it, please! I think it's a compilation of most early live recordings by Miles, as you can see from the listing there, the first few discs are actually by Charlie Parker (looks like the Savoy material, which is available on legit releses), the Paris set on disc 3 should be the Columbia Dameron/Davis album (with James Moody, Barney Spieler, Kenny Clarke, I think), then the Birdland stuff (some of it on a Blue Note CD, much of it earlier on Charly boots and various other shady releases I assume), and finally you get the Newport 1955 set (one track only on the Deluxe edition of "Round About Midnight", the rest again of boots), as well as two stray 1955 tracks by the quintet (I think those two are now on the Concord 4CD set of Miles' Quintet's Prestige recordings). I'm not sure of any of this, but go double-check yourself here: www.plosin.com/milesahead
  5. Now what about this one...???? http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/jazz/detail/-/hnum...&rsk=offers
  6. cool... thanks.. verifies that I shouldn't waste my money....
  7. Does anybody know anything about this??? Is this a legit release???? http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/jazz/detail/-/hnum...&rsk=offers
  8. I like it... I'm a huge McCoy fan... Got nearly every record... and going to see him here in Boston in March.... :excited: Depends how much you like McCoy... I think most of us who purchased it are pretty happy... (right).... How is that one? I've been thinking about picking it up at some point. .....now listening to the Tina Brooks set.
  9. Art Farmer Quintet... The Time and Place - the Lost Concert....
  10. Count Basie Live Roulette Disc 2... I've always been lukewarm on this.... <_< but I'm digging Joe Williams' vocals....
  11. The Complete Norman Granz Sessions Disc 5.... Two tracks lasting 50 minutes :excited:
  12. just listened to this again last week... It is a great record...!
  13. thank you.... I think that may push me over the edge....
  14. In your honest opinion is it worth $65 or so... (the difference between the European and the cheapest US version I can find)..?
  15. Thank YOU!!! Now I'm really torn!!! :excited: Do you know if the booklet was really good???
  16. Jazz Piano Mood Sessions Disc 7.... Max Miller & Tatum
  17. Bob Brookmeyer Select Disc 3.... Moved onto Dizzy Small Group Sessions Disc 5.... and finally... Jazztet Disc 4
  18. I don't have those... this one is designed like a F***ing accordion :tdown .... My 4 year old thinks its cool....
  19. Since I'm in a vocalist mood.... Moved onto the greatest of all time... (and I don't mean Muhammad Ali...) Billie - The Complete Verve Master Takes... Disc 1 on digital... One of the worst designed boxes on the planet....
  20. Anita O'Day Disc 4... this version of Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered... is off the charts.... :excl:
  21. I've also heard this complaint about Dave Brubeck.... (I don't agree though...) Would you say that about Art Tatum?
  22. I'd grab them all... I didn't get the Moncur as I had several of the CD's that came out under Jackie Mclean's name... The Braxton's just not my cup of tea.. Which Hill are talking about? The Solo or Select #16.. I had the Solo but it didn't really work for me... Did you get the Akiyoshi??? That'd be my vote.. (and what about the Oscar Peterson?)
  23. Disc 2 of 4 ... Oscar Peterson - Exclusively for my Friends.... :excited: A highly recommended set for those of you do not have it.... :tup
  24. from the way back collection.... :tup Bud Shank Box set... Disc 5....
  25. My New Year's Resolution is to keep plugging this idea... Clearly as evidenced by the Anthony Braxton set... the Mosaic powers that be... do pay attention to the desires of their loyal customers.... I will STILL go on record that her recordings would do well on a Mosaic set... I'd LOVE the complete Verve recordings.. but would settle for a Select of the Roulette + Bet+Car recordings.... Who's with me?.... :excited:
