  1. Okay, I'm going to ask another stupid question... Just out of curiosity (if anyone knows), why is there no Ellington on this set?
  2. Are those public domain? I'm assuming have all the jazz ones been released?
  3. Thanks. That's very helpful... Was Ellington the only one who did the Treasury Shows? I have all of those volumes and really like them.
  4. Kind of/maybe a stupid question... but were V-disc sessions all limited by the 3-minute recording windows (of the LP/tech at the time)? I have all the Storyville Ellington Treasury Shows (what was the relationship between the Treasury Shows and V-Discs?), and I vaguely remember that quite a few of those tracks were longer. I'm a bit on the fence with this set... Recording lengths might help. I know the discography will be up when it's ready for preorder, but I'm kinda curious.
  5. Is it my imagination, or is this a new re-issue? https://milesdavisstore.com/products/the-complete-plugged-nickel-live-1965-8-cd-box-set
  6. This is a really good record. First CD I have of this guy. I'll have to check out some more.
  7. I was just thinking the same thing. Clearly, some of you know something others of us don't. So what's the deal?
  8. Just saw this... thoughts? Opinions... I'm thinking I'm putting this on my buy list despite the song set being the same. https://www.importcds.com/bremen-1965/016728163422
  9. Caught Kenny Barron and his trio last night at the Regattabar in Cambridge, MA. It was excellent. His drummer, Savannah Harris, was very impressive. It was an excellent band. He mentioned a funny story about when he played there with Stan Getz when the place opened 30+ years ago. I've been going there for a long time, but not that long.
  10. I am so glad I got to see him 5-6 times before he basically retired. If I had to guess, he was in his late 60s/early 70s. He could still blow then. Great man! Is Lucille still alive?
  11. I grabbed this as a pre-release. Very happy with it.
  12. Consistent with the Bandcamp theme.... https://redrecords.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-umbria-jazz https://jimmygreene1.bandcamp.com/album/as-we-are-now https://aaronparksmusic.bandcamp.com/album/little-big https://aaronparksmusic.bandcamp.com/album/little-big-ii-dreams-of-a-mechanical-man
  13. Good for you. Well done with the discipline... I don't have it.
  14. Thanks for the review. He's coming here in the fall. I'm disinclined to spend $100 to see him. I caught him at Newport a decade ago, and that was enough. I've just never been able to gravitate toward him in performance... Glad you enjoyed it though.
  15. Hey... Is there a book out there that you would consider the best biography of her? I was listening to a random cut of hers on KCSM. I know the general outlines of her life (sexual abuse, bisexuality?, obviously racism, etc.), but I'd like to get more reliable info. Thanks.
  16. I completely agree with you about Instagram. My 20-year-old daughter is constantly on it and buys stuff from it occasionally. I followed one guy (can't remember his name) who is a huge vinyl person, and he constantly shows and plays Mosaic sets. He is one of the only people I see regularly mentioning Mosaic. If they had a presence on it, especially with regular posts, I think it would be successful.
  17. I did too, but I fear (based on the limited universe of this board) that it may not. It might be my misreading of it, but I thought there'd be more enthusiasm for this kind of set.
  18. I would generally agree with some of what you said. I loved his band with Chris Potter. It was exceptional. I wish they had recorded more, esp. some live stuff. I probably saw that band half a dozen times. But I also agree with you and the other posters, that Father Time is kicking all of our butts. I did enjoy his new release with Lionel Louke though.
  19. I second this!! Probably one of the few Blue Note anything I've bought in the last decade.
  20. Okay, returning to the semi-point, I was on Zepbound (one of the newer weight loss drugs) for about two to three months. I lost 20 lbs and had major side effects. Everything about that experience was largely negative. Fortunately, the more severe side effects forced me to get off it altogether. Much of what my doctors told me was that once I got off it, the side effects would stop, which they did. I would not do it again. So far I've managed to keep off those twenty pounds but I'm done with that stuff.
  21. I get it. I just ran out of CD space. Don't know what your digital setup is. When I do buy a digital download, I practice listening to it in my car, or on computer within a week or so (otherwise I'd forget it too).
  22. No digital download for you? That's what I'm going to do.
  23. On Bandcamp, isn't the currency Euro or Pound?
  24. I missed out on the first one, but I adore the second one. It's gotten a lot of play in my headphones since its release.
