  1. For some very odd reason, I just got an itching to listen to him more. Does anyone have this? Worth it? Looking around it seems there might be some smaller box sets of his work. And I have a stupid related question... Given his output, why didn't he do the Bond movie soundtracks? I mean I know the opening songs often got high profile pop stars (e.g., Billie Eilish, Shirley Massey, Sheena Easton, etc.) but it would have been an interesting mix. Thanks.
  2. Do you have everything backed up? Apple should be able to walk you through a password reset via the phone.
  3. It is the rebranded Celebrity Series. Although I have appreciated their jazz programming almost all of the events are overpriced. I'm going to the Kris Davis Trio tonight in Cambridge. I don't know the backstory about the change but I've been a bit disappointed with their jazz events over the last few years.
  4. I'm just wondering why there's never been a box set of this group?
  5. Caught Christian McBride and Usra Major last night. Was okay. Not great. Nicole Glover was interesting. Not what I expected.
  6. Okay my bad... I hate autocorrect .. esp when it doesn't work.
  7. Thanks so much! Great sound samples. I'm totally in!
  8. Anybody got any info/insight on this? Thanks. https://www.jazzmusicarchives.com/album/carla-bley/joyful-noise-live-in-hamburg-1984(live)
  9. Hey all.. came across these being listed on Bandcamp and a few other places. I thought I'd share the info. I ordered a copy of the Jamal, Lateef and Henderson on importcds (a little cheaper). The Petrucciani (frustratingly) appears to only be a European release. Any thoughts about any of these? https://yuseflateeflive.bandcamp.com/album/alight-upon-the-lake-live-at-the-jazz-showcase https://ahmadjamallive.bandcamp.com/album/at-the-jazz-showcase-live-in-chicago https://joehendersonlive.bandcamp.com/album/consonance-live-at-the-jazz-showcase https://malwaldronlive.bandcamp.com/album/stardust-starlight-live-at-the-jazz-showcase https://www.elemental-music.com/jazz-treasures/4942--michel-petrucciani-kuumbwa-8435395505113.html
  10. Any place for more sound samples other than the three on Mosaic's website?
  11. This is perhaps a cynical question (or I'm just a cranky old man - or both)... but what's the likelihood of a set that is mostly composed of incomplete takes and/or mediocre sound? My concern is that we're already getting a lot hype for a fuller boxed set that's not gonna come out for six months (at least), which I'm fearful is going to be quite disappointing. Any sound samples online, somewhere?
  12. Even though I have a ton of Art... I'm very interested in this one and likely to grab it. Thoughts??? https://omnivorerecordings.com/shop/live-at-the-cellar/
  13. Guess I was a latecomer... 😉 2004
  14. I'm taking a pass on this one and instead got the Byas, in part based on the recommendations from this board. Thanks, y'all. Happy Holidays to all.
  15. Okay, I'm going to ask another stupid question... Just out of curiosity (if anyone knows), why is there no Ellington on this set?
  16. Are those public domain? I'm assuming have all the jazz ones been released?
  17. Thanks. That's very helpful... Was Ellington the only one who did the Treasury Shows? I have all of those volumes and really like them.
  18. Kind of/maybe a stupid question... but were V-disc sessions all limited by the 3-minute recording windows (of the LP/tech at the time)? I have all the Storyville Ellington Treasury Shows (what was the relationship between the Treasury Shows and V-Discs?), and I vaguely remember that quite a few of those tracks were longer. I'm a bit on the fence with this set... Recording lengths might help. I know the discography will be up when it's ready for preorder, but I'm kinda curious.
  19. Is it my imagination, or is this a new re-issue? https://milesdavisstore.com/products/the-complete-plugged-nickel-live-1965-8-cd-box-set
  20. This is a really good record. First CD I have of this guy. I'll have to check out some more.
  21. I was just thinking the same thing. Clearly, some of you know something others of us don't. So what's the deal?
  22. Just saw this... thoughts? Opinions... I'm thinking I'm putting this on my buy list despite the song set being the same. https://www.importcds.com/bremen-1965/016728163422
  23. Caught Kenny Barron and his trio last night at the Regattabar in Cambridge, MA. It was excellent. His drummer, Savannah Harris, was very impressive. It was an excellent band. He mentioned a funny story about when he played there with Stan Getz when the place opened 30+ years ago. I've been going there for a long time, but not that long.
  24. I am so glad I got to see him 5-6 times before he basically retired. If I had to guess, he was in his late 60s/early 70s. He could still blow then. Great man! Is Lucille still alive?
