  1. cool... thanks guys... i may refrain....
  2. Even though you guys didn't directly answer my question... this has me thinking  If anyone (other than me) has the Hill CD - Live at Montreux... How does that compare to the Solo Select?? I believe they were recorded around the same time... 1975 v. 1978... Well put. It's pretty much how I feel about the Hill solo set. Ever since I bought it I've been thinking of selling it. It just doesn't grab me as much as Hill's earlier small-group sessions; some (and at times much) of the tension is lacking.
  3. Got a question for you guys... I had the Andrew Hill Solo Select a while back... I only gave it a couple of spins, couldn't get into and uncharacteristically sent it back to Mosaic... Since then - I gave the Live at Montreux Solo CD a few more spins and am really liking it... So for those of you who purchased it... should I use this sale as a opportunity to correct my mistake????
  4. Is there anything on this box, not available on individual cds??? (As far as I can tell this box is long OOP....)

  8. Anita O'Day... disc 9.. Why does she remind me of Glenn Close.... ???? or Kathleen Turner circa 1981's Body Heat...
  9. It's mostly on Blue note... given the 70th anniversary yesterday... :excited: Happy B-Day.. Worth a listen... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=99017823
  10. thanks.... I did find the previous threads... ... was discussed in another thread as well, but don't ask me to find it, please! I think it's a compilation of most early live recordings by Miles, as you can see from the listing there, the first few discs are actually by Charlie Parker (looks like the Savoy material, which is available on legit releses), the Paris set on disc 3 should be the Columbia Dameron/Davis album (with James Moody, Barney Spieler, Kenny Clarke, I think), then the Birdland stuff (some of it on a Blue Note CD, much of it earlier on Charly boots and various other shady releases I assume), and finally you get the Newport 1955 set (one track only on the Deluxe edition of "Round About Midnight", the rest again of boots), as well as two stray 1955 tracks by the quintet (I think those two are now on the Concord 4CD set of Miles' Quintet's Prestige recordings). I'm not sure of any of this, but go double-check yourself here: www.plosin.com/milesahead
