  1. Details here (release date: March 1, 2011)
  2. Sad news. Sorry to hear this.
  3. I decided to post a short explanation as to why I locked the thread, without going into the various individual posts above. I intended to post this in the Elvis thread, but events (like this thread) overtook that intention. I watched the direction the Elvis thread was taking with growing concern, in particular when I read the Elvis/Wagner/concentration camp analogy that was posted in another thread and the reactions it provoked in the Elvis thread. In my view that analogy was way over the line and uncalled-for, and to prevent the thread from going down that line any further I locked it. However, having thought about it and realizing that some of the reactions in the Elvis thread were civil, balanced and thoughtful, I re-opened it. As this is another clash between the way I am moderating this board and the opposition it seems to generate, I decided to take time off for personal reasons. So it's goodbye for now.
  4. I have merged three McBrowne threads to keep all info and opinions in one place.
  5. I have merged the three existing Staccato threads to keep all info and opinions in one place and deleted a few posts about the location of the threads that became superfluous with the merger You can find the result here. I locked this thread.
  6. It is, I've also seen it happen on other music boards. Strange phenomenon.
  7. Maybe for you. I find it fascinating. To each their own
  8. [sigh] This thread has become very tedious, with the same arguments repeated over and over again... Time to move on, I think. By the way, thanks for keeping it civil
  9. It's not just OJC/Riverside, McBrowne also made an album under his own name for Pacific Jazz. I had his Riverside and Pacific Jazz albums back in my LP days. Both are included on this Fresh Sound set. They're nice dates, but not exactly earth-shaking.
  10. No commenting on the price, please - see forum rule 8.
  11. Yep, here. It wasn't there when I did a search yesterday.
  12. The period was so small, I didn't even notice it
  13. Perhaps you could post a few details, such as artists and TOCJ numbers.
  14. The set is no longer listed on Hip-O's home page, at least I can't find it on their site - or on any other internet store site, for that matter. (edit) I just heard that the set has been delayed until January 2011.
  15. Yeah, so? What's your point? Why don't we just cut to the chase: Piss off. Didn't realize you were the king of this thread. I guess 2 championships in 92 years gives you a sort of sense of entitlement, eh? OK, that's enough. If this continues the thread will be closed (like the Baseball Steroid thread).
  16. I'm with Larry here. An adolescent might find this kind of humour funny. Nothing to do with PC.
  17. How about "hypocrisy"? If spell-check were predictive instead of just underlining the problem word, maybe I wouldn't be so embarrassed. :blush2: It might be comforting to know that this is by far the best bulletin board I've seen as far as spelling and grammar are concerned. Some of the other boards are embarrassingly bad in that respect
  18. How about "hypocrisy"?
  19. Many thanks. They've probably taken the info from the CD issue, which, by the way, has five extra tracks. CD tracklisting: A Lot of Livin' to Do You Can Have Him Tonight Make Someone Happy I Believe in You As Long as He Needs Me Getting to Know You My Ship The Sweetest Sounds Joey, Joey, Joey Loads of Love I'll Know Hello, Young Lovers If Ever I Would Leave You I'm All Smiles Come Back to Me Don't Rain on My Parade
  20. AMG lists two bass players, Joe Comfort and Al McKibbon.
  21. I can't wait for the Lunceford as well! I wonder who will be doing the remastering? Steven Lasker or Andreas Meyer come to mind, since they have been doing a lot of the pre-WWII music at Mosaic. But my personal favorite is Malcolm Addey...I rechecked the email he sent, and it he did indeed say, a Sam Rivers big band set. I am not very familiar with Sam Rivers, but from the talk on the board, it sounded like it would be trio stuff. Perhaps a typo. Either way with the Ellington 30s big band set selling so well, I really hope we can see an additional release or two on top of what is planned for 2011. Am I being greedy? I guess they'd rather move slowly, pending the economic situation. They've been through tough times recently and they didn't put sets on the backburner for nothing.
  22. Please do e-mail Mosaic about this, they appreciate feedback about their current shipping process.
  23. Puppy? 11CDs, I'd call that a pup If it keeps selling like it seems to do now, pretty soon I guess.
  24. We all forget earlier posts
