  1. Done. thanks You're welcome. By the way, you can edit the thread title yourself: click on the "edit" button of the first post and then on "use full editor".
  2. Yep, noticed that too, and once again co-founder Charlie Lourie wasn't mentioned... The narrator also said that Mosaic put out about 150 sets (the big ones), while the actual number is 248 up to today. But the Monk Blue Note was #101, so #248 is actually the 148th. Yep, my mistake, you and the narrator are right.

  4. Pity they don't sell on-line.
  5. I once got a Blue Note CD-R from Amazon (not realizing at the time of ordering that it was a CD-R) and, although I found out soon enough that it wasn't "the real thing", it looked OK to me. It did have all the artwork, including the liner notes. I got rid of it when I managed to find the original CD, so I can't say whether or not its quality deteriorated over time.
  6. The thread that was posted today was taken down because the set is already being discussed here.
  7. There will be more Selects. A Lucky Thompson Select was mentioned in another thread, and they're planning more.
  8. The Mosaic booklet lists just one take of "Wrinkles", recorded on August 12, 1959. Total timing: 8:06.
  9. Their Complete Motown Singles sets, which, to my ears, were going from bad to worse sound-wise. The last few volumes I bought (the last one I got was #6) were so loud and harsh that they gave me headaches. Their David Ruffin Studio Albums, Vol.1 CD and Chess sets are also pretty loud, though not half as bad as those Motown sets.
  10. Ah yes, of course, forgot about that one. Agree with you about Hip-O's price/packaging, though. So do I. And I also have problems with their usually quite "loud" and sometimes harsh-sounding mastering. I hope the Getz set will not be as loud and harsh as some of their other sets.
  11. I don't see "Dedicated to Connie" on this list. That was a concert recorded in Lubjana, Slovenia in 1960 but issued many years later (unless it is one of these and reissued under a different title?). Likewise, their later Atlantic albums like "Blues on Bach" are not here or later concert albums like "The Last Concert," but I assume you're only including material issued at the time that's more or less covered by the period of the set. gregmo As the thread title says the set will only include studio recordings. Yes Hans, but the poster listed the live albums too and asked if his list was complete. I was responding to that query. gregmo

  13. It's been on the CD of "Plays", that's why I'm asking... and I'd hate to miss out on the new alternate takes by buying the Mosaic LP set (which I'll probably rather do than getting the Hip-O, now that I have the choice... but then the Mosaic price will be even more ridiculous than the Hip-O, I assume...) They mentioned the quartet date with Rowles, Whitlock and Roach in their e-mail and on their site, so yes, I guess it will be included. As it looks now the 1952 stuff will not be included, so if you want it you'll have to get the Hip-O Select set - unless Mosaic will include it after all.
  14. Hip-O or its parent company probably holds the copyright, and was willing to let Mosaic do the LPs to coincide with its own CD release. I've been wanting these "Interpretations" recordings for a while, and am happy that they are coming out. Some of them were available in Japanese CDs, but not all. And the only other alternative was buying very expensive or very scratched-up LPs. Correct. Hip-O's owners, Universal, would not allow Mosaic to do a CD-set. Apparently the Mosaic Getz will not include the 1952 sides that the Hip-O Select 3CD-set has. I've asked Mosaic about this. I will post their reply here.

  16. or maybe a "phaux-renassiance man". Where does that leave Charlie Parsnip? Interesting question.

  18. The names are Charli (no e) Persip (with an e) and Tommy Flanagan, and the title of the LP is Gretsch Drum Night at Birdland. dude its 11 in the morning. im suprised i didnt call him Honk Mobley, lololollllllllllllllllllll Well, trying to spell someone's name correctly is a matter of respect in my opinion, no matter the time of day. Besides, if someone does a search for those names they can only be found if they are spelt correctly.
  19. Same here - earlier stuff: varies from so so to OK, later stuff: no thanks.

  21. I remember Mr Saussy being a member of the Neon Philharmonic; I had their hit "Morning Girl" on 45.
