    The Columbia box was remastered and reissued in 1996. Columbia also released their 2 Johnson albums on CD with newly remastered sound, King of the Delta Blues Singers in 1998 and King of the Delta Blues Singers, Vol.2 in 2004. The sound on those 2 discs is quite good.

    Sadly, for Hip-o boxes that Amazon.de price *is* unbelievably great. Twice that is the norm. I've gone for it anyway. It is a great deal, and on top of that Amazon Germany offer free shipping within Germany and to some of the neighbouring countries, including Austria, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands And to us switzers, too - if the order's total value is 20€ or more... Yep, and since the box is over €20 shipping is free, that's why I didn't mention that condition.

    Unfortunately, the release date on Amazon Germany has been pushed back from February 22 to March 15. It was released on February 8 in the United States. Has anyone in the U.S. heard this set yet?

    Why don't you ask Mosaic? They're the ones who make the decisions and can give you an explanation. [edit] I e-mailed Mosaic's Fred about this. Just got the same reply from Michael Cuscuna. He said that they won't include the 1965 Jazz Dialogue album because they don't have room for it and in particular because it is the first of the albums that repeat repertoire, which they want to avoid. Porgy and Bess will be included in its entirety, even though part of it was recorded in 1965.

    Well, I'll be 64 next week and I don't like Mr Allen as a character either, so as far as I'm concerned that's got nothing to do with age I found his neurotic shtick funny in the first three or four movies he appeared in, but from then on it bored me to death.

    I think John hit the nail right on the head. Some packages from sellers in the United States and the United Kingdom take weeks and sometimes even months to get here, and, when they finally arrive, they turn out to have been handled by private carriers who appear to be more interested in the big stuff, i.e. bulk contracts with big companies, than in delivering a few small packets in a timely manner, which is relatively costly. I tried to file complaints, but to no avail.

    CDs packaged in cardboard sleeves which are mini facsimiles of the original LP covers.

    You can find your old topics and posts by using the advanced search option, right next to the search button at the upper right-hand corner: - enter your board name in "author" - select the dates in the "find by date" bars by clicking on the icons next to those bars - select the forum - note that all fields are optional, but you must submit at least one search criteria - enter.

    Make that 11+ weeks... Just received a small packet with 1 CD (!) from the United States that was mailed (airmail) on November 26 last year and delivered by a private carrier. A delivery time of 2½ months, it's a disgrace. Another small packet from the same sender that was mailed on December 28 also arrived today, delivered by the same carrier... That one took 6 weeks...
