  3. Congratulations to the Giants. An excellent World Series!
  4. The first (1963) LP issue had a yellow mono (PRLP-7257) or silver stereo (PRST-7257) label, with the Bergenfield address on top of the label. In 1964 the label was changed to blue with a trident logo on the right and the Bergenfield address on the bottom, so your pressing was the later one.
  5. Before it enters the atmosphere there can't be any sound either.
  6. That would be copyright infringement and I don't think Mosaic or the authors of the booklets would be happy with that. Er - You didn't think I was being serious I hope? Not really, no; just thought I'd mention it
  7. That would be copyright infringement and I don't think Mosaic or the authors of the booklets would be happy with that. BTW, Hans, I remember you mentioned a few months ago that Mosaic were thinking of using sturdier boxes for shipping. Do you know if they have already been introduced or if it is still a project? I have no idea. Perhaps someone who recently placed an order can chime in. I won't know until my next set, which will be the Ellington.
  8. That would be copyright infringement and I don't think Mosaic or the authors of the booklets would be happy with that.
  9. Scott Wenzel just told me they've put the Henderson set "on the backburner", as he put it. It would have had recordings from the Victor and Columbia families of labels. They are going ahead with the Lunceford set, which will have his Decca sides; Scott didn't mention recordings for other labels. They hope to release it in 2011.
  10. I don't have that set, but I'm sure if it is what the title purports to be there would be quite a bit of overlap. The Mosaic is going to sound a lot better and have a great booklet. AND I wager material not on the other set. I agree, the Mosaic will no doubt be a much better option sonically, and I love the booklets.
  11. as determined by whom? The admin or a moderator - see forum rule 1.
  12. perhaps - but that is besides the point. whim and caprice should not be a basis to delete posts IMHO. No, that is exactly the point - see also my earlier post (#84). Whim and caprice have nothing to do with this.
  13. The expected release date is now "late November".
  14. I think it's obvious that when a post is deleted, a reaction to just that post is no longer relevant and can be deleted too, the more so since it will no longer make any sense on its own.

  16. Fletcher Henderson's Decca sides (or at least many of them, I didn't check) were reissued in relatively excellent sound on 2 CDs on the Scottish Hep label: Yeah Man! (1931-1933) and Wild Party! (1934). The transfers and mastering were done by the late John R.T. Davies.
  17. They are indeed planning a Henderson set covering 1924-1941, probably 7 CDs.
  18. Great price for a great set. I agree with Chuck, these are Bill Evans' best recordings since his Riverside days. The accompanying set, Consecration, is just as good.
  19. Bill Dixon died on June 16 this year; see this thread (scroll down). Wikipedia
  20. All Membran and Quadromania discs that I've heard sounded heavily de-hissed to my ears. Horrible.
  21. Why? - has there been some previous discussion on this topic What do you & Chuck know? The chance of a Basie Columbia Mosaic is gone with the release of the Lester Young Mosaic.
  22. What bitches brew can lead to...
