  1. A major upset in the making: Spain 0, Switzerland 1, with only about 10 minutes to go. Spain are the better team, but their attacks are surprisingly ineffective. The Swiss got a few big scoring chances. Wow.
  2. Hey, come on, that's not fair; they're only doing their job, they didn't make the rules.
  3. Chile were clearly the better team, but the finishing was indeed appalling, they should have scored at least two more goals.
  4. Jim has just added the "no commenting on the prices of wares"-rule to the Forum rules.
  5. Just checked my second Japanese CD issue from 1991 (MVCI-23013) and it has the unedited 10+ minutes version.
  6. Don't know if you posted there, but posts in the Politics/Religion forum don't count anymore.
  7. The Ivory Coast v. Portugal game was not bad. Ivory Coast were the better team and deserved to win, but a draw is OK. Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo's performance was far below par. He once again displayed his mannerisms, dives and egotripping, exactly why I dislike him so much
  8. Another dismal game. So far the level of this tournament is very disappointing.
  9. A disappointment for the organizers, I guess. Thanks to the noise of those vuvuzelas it doesn't make any difference for the volume of the sound coming from the crowd...
  10. Japan v. Cameroon is a very, very poor game, one of the worst I've seen so far in this tournament. Ugh.
  11. Only watched part of the second half of the Netherlands v. Denmark game, so I can't really comment. I got the impression that it was neither good nor bad. [correction] Just saw a bit more and it wasn't very good.
  12. A World Cup official has said that they won't be banned. Dutch TV has already turned the "stadium sound" down relative to the commentators' voices after numerous complaints from viewers.
  13. I was talking about viewings in UK pubs and clubs. I know, I was kidding (though I did watch the game in HD at home )
  14. Cahill went for the leg, not the ball. It was an ugly foul, punishable by a red card according to the instructions the referees got from FIFA ahead of the tournament. I didn't see Cacau's foul - if there was one.
  15. A fully justified straight red for Australian Cahill. Ugly foul. Judging by this game, Germany are one of the better teams.
  16. Yeah - that affected all of the viewings in HD at the pubs and clubs. Us cheapskates viewing in non-HD at home were unaffected Was viewing in HD at home and did see it - very clearly, I should add Luckily we don't have any commercial breaks during games, only during half-time. The vuvuzelas are bad enough, we don't need anything on top of that... Poor guy.
  17. Was this date ever released on CD?
  18. What label is yours? This one is One Way Records. Did Blue Note ever issue this in cd form? No, they didn't. So far, the One Way disc is the only CD version
  19. The worst game so far
  20. Did we watch the same game? I must admit, though, that I'm not a Gerrard fan; I've never quite understood what people see in him. OK, he's a good player, but in my opinion not one of the greats. That's right, but elsewhere...
  21. Doesn't look all that likely @ 75 minutes. ...and it didn't happen. A poor English game. Haven't seen Gerrard - apart from his goal - or Rooney. Why on earth didn't Capello play Rooney in his favourite spot?? He looked lost. England favourites for the title? I don't think so, based on this performance.
  22. None of the 8 teams that have played so far have impressed me very much, but that's usually the case in the first days of a World Cup. Argentina were good in the first part of their game against Nigeria, but, as Van Basten II said, they lost steam later on; some of their players looked very tired. Greece were the weakest team by far, while South Korea were better than I expected. I'm looking foward to the England v United States game later today.
  23. Please continue there. Thanks.
  24. The second yellow card (= red) was fully justified, it should have been a straight red. These horrid fouls (going straight for someone's leg instead of the ball) are happening way too often and the punishment should be much tougher than it has been in the various leagues so far. I found the French team very disappointing, sterile and void of ideas, while Uruguay played the way I expected them to play: they don't have many players who are creative, so they count on their defence and prowl, and strike when they see a chance.
  25. So did México. 1-1, with only a few minutes left. Still not a very good game.
