  1. I guess the assumption is that he still might be lurking. But I wish he would come back too. Chris hasn't been here since May 13, 2008. He's a regular at the Blindman's Blues Forum, though.
  2. And maybe that's got something to do with the tone of some of your posts. Just tone it down a bit.
  3. Maybe a less antagonizing tone would do the trick.
  4. Is "downgraded" the proper terminology in French? Because here, you get downgraded from stable to critical, not the other way around. That's an upgrade, and its welcome news. In some European languages the equivalent of "downgraded" is used to indicate an improvement in one's condition from "critical" to "stable". It can be compared with a downgrade from "high alert" to "medium alert"
  5. Lucky you - where did you find that? this is one CD high on my wants list but it always seems to be highly priced (actually have an Australian 10" Mercury LP "Young At Bop" - contains 8 titles on the CD) Have only seen it on Amazon (US, UK, France & Germany) Also, still looking for The Ellingtonians, Roy Eldridge, Red Norvo & The Keynoters (Nat Cole) - probably the harder ones to find I got my Early Bebop from a seller on Amazon Germany, who had just listed it for a very reasonable price. In the last few years I was lucky enough to find all the Keynote CDs I didn't already have, for prices that varied from low to reasonable. I now have all 10 titles in this series; the only thing that's still missing is the front insert of the Benny Carter CD.
  6. A series can be called "Essential" and be filled with crap, but in this instance I agree, the 10 volumes are great. Listened to Early Bebop earlier today and liked it very much, with the exception of the two vocals by Neal Hefti's wife, Frances Wayne.
  7. Interesting discussion, but I'm afraid it's a bit "post my time". Loved the first two Pink Floyd albums at the time (late 1960s), though, and still do. Didn't listen to the Floyd after Umma Gumma until some thirty years later By the way, it's "ad nauseam"
  8. He suffered from lung cancer.
  9. Just got a not-too-expensive "as new" copy of the last Keynote CD I was looking for, Early Bebop with Red Rodney, Neal Hefti and others. Looking forward to hearing it
  10. Dutch musician Willem Breuker has died. He was 65. Obit (in Dutch, with YouTube link) Obit (in Dutch)
  11. The best of luck to all of you!
  12. It is. I've edited my post.

  14. The Lord discographies aren't that good. I sold all my copies. (edit) I was talking about the books Ocium is one of those European labels that take advantage of the European 50-year copyright laws.
  15. Ha, thanks. That clears it up, it is Universal, not a bootleg.
  16. They changed it - when I checked the CDUniverse page earlier today it said "Universal". Apparently it is a bootleg.
  17. According to the CDUniverse page the label is Universe, so if that's correct it's not a bootleg.
  18. Yep, there were problems with the licensing agreement and Mosaic had to withdraw the set without warning.
  19. Australian conductor Sir Charles Mackerras has died. He was 84. BBC obit
  20. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me that they are not planning a Complete Keynote CD-set at the moment; the chances that there ever will be one are very, very slim.
  21. short AMG review of Posthumous
  22. They played only 3 games, which made it easier to remain unbeaten
  23. If everyone can do this, it would be ultra snazzy. If you find someone not complying with the new rule, please report the post to me and the moderators. Thank you! Please observe this forum rule. Thanks.
  24. This post has been edited by J.A.W.: 04 June 2010 - 01:49 PM not to start a ruckus - but i am curious as to what was edited in this post by the moderator? I think there was a link to the MOSAIC SELECTs There was something wrong with the original links. I don't remember exactly what (it's over a month ago), but they didn't work properly. I fixed them, and that's all I did.
