  1. Should have been 2-2. If not for the idiot ref who is blind and gets in the way of play. Jerk ! Just watched several repeats: the ball clearly crossed the line. It should indeed have been 2-2.
  2. Podolski scores: Germany lead 2-0. Germany outclass England at the moment. ...and then Upson scores for England: Germany lead 2-1. An England ball lands behind the German goal line - it's a "1966 World Cup Final" moment, but this time the goal is disallowed. The English team are fighting back.
  3. Klose scores: Germany 1, England 0. So far another poor game from the English team, Germany are clearly better.
  4. Full time: United States 1, Ghana 2 after extra time. Ghana advance to the quarter finals. I had hoped that the quality of the football (soccer ) would improve in the knock-out stages, but this was a pretty bad game - again. Maybe it'll get better tomorrow, with the Germany v. England and Argentina v. México games
  5. Full time: Uruguay 2, South Korea 1. Former World Champions (1930, 1950) Uruguay advance to the quarter finals.
  6. Suárez scores again for Uruguay, 2-1, with about 10 minutes left.
  7. South Korea have equalized: 1-1, with about 20 minutes left. I wouldn't be surprised to see this game go to extra time.
  8. Uruguay and Ajax Amsterdam forward Suárez scores; Uruguay 1, South Korea 0.
  9. I think this is the set you're referring to: 3 Trilogy-30th Anniversary Box I have merged your thread with the existing one about the Vienna Art Orchestra. It might get more attention.
  10. That's terrible news. Another great musician gone.
  11. The finalists of the 2006 World Cup have both left the building...
  12. With only a few minutes left: Slovakia 3, Italy 1; Italy are on the way out... (edit) It's now Slovakia 3, Italy 2. An improbable comeback in the making? Full time: Slovakia 3, Italy 2. Italy are indeed out.
  13. It was either that or nothing at all. At least they're not secretive about it in the booklets.
  14. Just read Dan's reply and yes, I agree, he does have a point. I will now retire to contemplate what means for me...
  15. Yep, and the winner will meet the winner of the Argentina v. México game in the quarter final...
  16. Interesting, though I do not necessarily agree. Put simply, I think a CD collector is someone whose main interest is to complete a particular CD series (like for example the "Blue Note Works" TOCJs) and/or to get as much music as they can by a particular artist/group, including all the various versions/mixes/masterings/etc. they can lay their hands on, no matter ìf it's any good or not. In other words, they are completists. Next question: does a CD collector actually listen to music? For instance, there are many people on the Hoffman forum who are collectors in the sense I described above and who give me the impression that they're not in the least interested in the music they're buying; if there's anything they listen to, it's sound.
  17. I'm not a collector I think anyone who has more than 100 CDs is a collector. What's that criterion based on?
  18. I'm not a collector
  19. If you mean Kevin B., I don't think he has a complete run of TOCJ-4000s. So.. apart from Reinier, has anyone *else* got a complete run of TOCJ 4000s yet? I don't, there are several titles that I don't like
  20. I agree, those early McMasters are not as bad as some people say they are.
  21. Analogue Productions and Music Matters are trying to rectify that. Analogue Productions is releasing select classic Blue Note titles on hybrid SACDs (SACD & CD combined). Music Matters is releasing select classic Blue Notes that are not part of AP's program on XRCDs. I have heard several of both and to my ears, they are doing justice to the original masters. The XRCDs are released by Audio Wave. Music Matters released Blue Note titles on vinyl. Joe Harley is involved in both projects, which makes me wonder if Audio Wave is the CD division of Music Matters or if Music Matters is the LP division of Audio Wave Anyway, to my ears the Audio Wave XRCDs (mastered by Alan Yoshida) and the CD layers of the AP hybrid SACDs (mastered by Steve Hoffman) that I've heard sound remarkably similar to my Toshiba "Blue Note Works" CDs.
  22. I don't see any change either.
  23. Nobel prizes are only awarded to living persons. Can't connect with him either, but a great loss nevertheless.
  24. Thad Jones didn't actually play with Rollins, the LP has two different sessions. This is a 1968 fake stereo reissue of Rollins' November 4, 1957 and Jones' December 12, 1956 dates, which were originally issued on Jazztone and Period. The Rollins tracks can be found on his The Freelance Years box that Fantasy put out before Concord stepped in.
