  1. Those CDUniverse pre-order sale prices usually last until one week after the street date.
  2. The Raney is a must for me, and the Roberts looks good, with Bill Holman on tenor sax!
  3. The J.J. Johnson set is still in the "Running low" category.
  4. Thanks John, I appreciate it!
  5. I'd imagine the list of "the top jazz minds" would be more entertaining & revealing than the supposed list of the 50 greatest pianists.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm the one who's always advising people here to contact Hiroshi Tanno for Japanese CDs... These CDs are no longer regularly available in Japan, otherwise I wouldn't have posted this thread.
  7. Another try...
  8. And I'm still selling some of them for even less... (Sorry, couldn't resist)
  9. Yep. Same problem here in Germany. ...and in the Netherlands.
  10. Apparently, based on the information you just gave, these are indeed the 24-bit remasters. For instance, my Here Comes Louis Smith is labeled as "TOCJ-6594". I am far from being an audiophile (hell, I like the domestic RVGs just fine), but these sound great to my ears. This 24-bit remastered TOCJ-6XXX series is quite recent and, as far as I know, generally available.
  11. Guy, Are these Blue Notes the older "Blue Note Works" TOCJs or the recent 24-bit remastered TOCJ reissues?
  12. Which TOCJ series are you talking about, the older "Blue Note Works" CDs (TOCJ-15XX, 16XX, 4XXX), the later 24-bit remasters (TOCJ-6XXX), or the JRVGs (TOCJ-9XXX)?
  13. Sounds very much like the 'NSA Today' chatroom? If your passport contains a dozen or so stamps from Damascus, Cyprus, Malta, etc and accumulated 'Awards Points' from the Holiday Inn Samarkand, Tbilisi or Madison, Wisconsin, you get that special invitation.
  14. "Virtual Personal Network"
  15. Why don't you e-mail Hiroshi Tanno: hiroshi@earlyrecords.com, he might be able to help you. He accepts PayPal.
  16. Gee John, didn't know you were such an old fart. Never made the Litweiler/Yancey link before. An unexpected link indeed.
  17. Just heard the news on Dutch TV. Another one gone...
  18. Al, sorry I hijacked your thread.
  19. An increasing number of classical and jazz reissues also sound bright and (too) loud, that's why I'm currently selling so many reissues from my collection; they're hurting my (admittedly aging) ears and I can't enjoy the music that way. I often prefer earlier CD issues of the same music, most of them sound pretty good to excellent on my system, not too loud and certainly not bright.
  20. True, though I find SH's statements usually quite reliable. And here's a wacko who's still trying to find Impulse! CDs that sound OK on his system...
  21. Well, I'm one of those wankers who regularly visit the Steve Hoffman Forums, and there's really no need to be so condescending and offensive, just because you don't agree with what some posters over there think of these remasters (which I haven't heard myself and which I'm not interested in)
