  1. An increasing number of classical and jazz reissues also sound bright and (too) loud, that's why I'm currently selling so many reissues from my collection; they're hurting my (admittedly aging) ears and I can't enjoy the music that way. I often prefer earlier CD issues of the same music, most of them sound pretty good to excellent on my system, not too loud and certainly not bright.
  2. True, though I find SH's statements usually quite reliable. And here's a wacko who's still trying to find Impulse! CDs that sound OK on his system...
  3. Well, I'm one of those wankers who regularly visit the Steve Hoffman Forums, and there's really no need to be so condescending and offensive, just because you don't agree with what some posters over there think of these remasters (which I haven't heard myself and which I'm not interested in)
  4. Yes they take credit cards (MC) . Made 2 orders in last weeks Shipping charges for Canada (email from them). Should be the same for US : Shipping and handling to Canada depends on weight: Within 2 kg it is Euro 22,-, from 2 kg to 20 kg it is Euro 32,-. If the weight is higher than 20 kg, the costs are billed the same form thze beginning BTW They still have Basie Mosaic : 8 cds for 49,99 euros Good luck My bad, I posted to the wrong thread, they do indeed take credit cards.

  6. Wish I could say that...
  7. It's now January 17, 12.18 AM over here, so: happy birthday and many happy returns!
  8. I think you mean Bob Enevoldsen... Tampa and Pacific Jazz were two different labels, i.e. they were not run by the same people.
  9. That Jack Millman - is that Jack Sheldon? His tune Pink Lady was on the second Curtis Counce Group LP on Contemporary. Nope, they're not the same person.
  10. Very sad news.
  11. Couldn't agree more! Just heard the news on Dutch TV.
  12. Well, that's what I was told by my high-end audio dealer. Just thought I'd mention it here. O.K., did your dealer offer some information as to where and what the dangers are? Yes he did, but I don't remember (I'm not that technical). If people are unsure about all this I'd suggest they check with their dealers first.
  13. Well, that's what I was told by my high-end audio dealer. Just thought I'd mention it here.
  14. Are you talking about the CD side or the DVD side? I always figured the CD side of a DualDisc would play on any CD player; is that not correct? Apparently not, it seems they might be harmful to some CD players; that's why audio gear manufacturers like Mark Levinson and Marantz are warning against dualdiscs.
  15. That makes two of 'em, Mark Levinson and Marantz. I wonder what's wrong with these dualdiscs...
  16. Check out this album: Red Mitchell - Presenting Red Mitchell - Contemporary/OJC It has some nice James Clay on both tenor saxophone and flute. It's also one of Billy Higgins' first recording sessions.
  17. I think you'd better check if your player does accept/play dualdiscs before you pick up any. I've heard several reports about problems and damage caused by dualdiscs, but haven't had any experience with them myself. Edited to correct a spelling error.
  18. I have the original CDs of Talking Heads: 77 and More Songs about Buildings and Food and don't intend to "upgrade". Besides, I have a Mark Levinson CD transport and signal processor and ML advised not to play dualdiscs, since these might cause severe damage.
  19. Happy birthday and have a great day (or what's left of it...)
  20. It's now just past midnight over here, so happy birthday to you, Oliver, and many happy returns!
