  1. Duran (Take 4) from The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions
  2. That x-men analogy is thought-provoking.
  3. Happy Birthday Shawn! You had a new thread for each year going back to 2004. Thought I'd just continue this one... As I said elsewhere, Happy Birthday young man. The mind and the body my age, but the spirit is free from time. Enjoy!
  4. Happy Birthday Lon! I hope you get a nice ride in today, followed by plenty of time with the lady, some of y'alls favorite music, and some glowing tubes! -Cary
  5. I almost want to book a trip to Paris just to meet you Brownie. I'm entirely serious. I'd have wife and baby with me, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
  6. This is the happiest ending a girl could have ever imagined. Yay.
  7. Thanks Brownie.
  8. Did others write about and praise Jimmy Lyons during his lifetime? He seems difficult to discover these days. A shame he isn't better known.
  9. Molly Ringwald plays pocket trumpet, log drum, amplified mbira.
  10. Yeah. Too bad Lord, AMG, Penguin, or Mike Fitzgerald don't keep tabs on references during improvised solos. If only there were one decent jazz database out there. If only there was one person out there enough to keep a database on obscured jazz musicians.
  11. What's with all the hostility?
  12. $ Sent through paypal. Thanks T.
  13. Guys, I just wanted to thank you for this, and other similar threads. clem was also into some british folk, steel string, etc. musics, so I owe him thanks as well. Over the past few years, I've managed to find some Pentangle, Fairport, Steeleye, Davy Graham albums that are so perfect for me. Really great and fun music. Thank you.
  14. I got next. (places quarters on the table).
  15. I couldn't deal with that youtube clip. I had to shut it down about half-way through. That was brutal. Are the other recommendations more imaginative or was vibraphone relegated to electric wailing in this genre? Things have come a long way since the electravibe. Nico Vanderplaas has created some amazing instruments. I agree with you on the limited soundscape. With exceptions of course, vibes cannot/should not replace electric guitar, b-3, etc. as the lead instrument. Exceptions being the right musician. ps Yes. I know the Dave Pike stuff. A great player.
  16. Easy Shawn. He's pushing buttons. Wallace, I think your knowledge of troll song would be more respected throughout the hollow if you would work to drop the condescending attitude. I, for one, am less inclined to check out this music because of the presentation If you really are here to share your knowledge, act consistently with that spirit. We have an established community here. Nothing to prove. Ease up. I know Shawn in the cellular world, and he is a laid back and unassuming person with a unique perspective and taste in music. Wallace, can you recommend me some proggy vibraphone music? Thanks. F. Why does it seem like we have to do this whole bit every few months. Is it just me, or is Troll a shitty band name, regardless of what country they're from?
  17. Wallace, all of these guys are trolls. They have been discussing music, politics, cover art, and everything else under the sun here since 2003. Please do not interact with them. It only encourages them to continue posting. Thanks.
  18. Oh. Sorry. I thought I was signing up for BFT79. Please disregard my previous request to be included.
  19. I'm honored to have been a part of the organissimo legacy. Four great discs that I will listen to for years, and a DVD that I have yet to watch! Thanks guys.
  20. I keep reading this as "To be carved on my trombone".
  21. "i'm one handsome bastard."
  22. I've been disconnected lately and just read this last night. Harvey deserved to live forever, in whatever physical state. It was in his character. RIP. Thanks for being your self.
