  1. I just bought my copy and it really does sound fantastic. The mp3s were great, but the CD is really something!
  2. That distressing feeling was always what set his music apart. It was distressing. Crossroads Sample just doesn't sound natural to me. I don't know about all this. I'll stick to the folklore.
  3. Flute was working this morning on this one.
  4. I'm new to Bennie Green, and I am loving his playing on Soul Stirrin', but Sonny Clark is really standing out on these tunes.
  5. Man, I am really enjoying this album. Just picked it up in a shop used today. This would be a great disc for the Sonny Clark thread too!
  6. Happy Birthday! I hope you are well into a good listen by now!
  7. Man, that is great news. Live it up!
  8. That is great news. I met him in Boston five or six years ago. I had to speak to him. His drumming was so impressive. He was absolutely fascinating. More knowledgeable than you'd expect a historian to be, much less a working drummer. Please take that as I mean it. His knowledge was so incredibly thorough. The other musicians just listened to his recall as they packed up. I could not leave! Totally captivated.
  9. Ah. I thought the sessions started much earlier than that. Thanks.
  10. Why wasn't this album part of the ABKCO remastered series?
  11. Finally had a chance to watch it last night. Agreed with everything here. How about that shot of Jack and Locke running at each other like rams on the cliffside?! Jack leaping into the air behind a fist, Locke lunging forward with his companion knife! Very cinematic and kung fu! I don't think Kate had ever looked more beautiful than she did when she wrapped her hair back in preparation to deliver Aaron at the concert. Wow. Gorgeous. I loved the comment from Hurley. "You were a great number two." And Linus: "And YOU were a GREAT number one." Why didn't Benjamin enter the house of light?
  12. I've been to Eyedrum before. I heard Sabir Mateen play there one night. I liked the feel of the place. I'd love to hear y'all play. Atlanta just isn't easy to get to from here.
  13. Glows In The Dark has dl's available at glowingrealm.com, as well as interviews with some well known musicians.
  14. I love that cover
  15. Let's face it, he only released 4 albums during his lifetime. Everything else is a collection of one sort or another based on speculation or some producer's imagination. Of course! Hey, I'll take what I can get. Somehow Jimi can't be overplayed around here.
  16. I bought one for travel three or four years ago. I've use it a dozen times, mostly hanging from a tent at the beach. How are yall using yours? At home, if I really needed to use my iPod, I'd just plug it into a receiver.
  17. Hey have you posted this elsewhere? I'd like to share it.
  18. Yeah, I like it, but it feels like Voodoo Soup, New Rays, South Saturn in that it does not feel like an album to me. I like this version of "Red House", but I have been listening to the version on BLUES for so many years. THAT version, to me, is the definitive version. This one is taking some time for me to get used to!
  19. If I have a new album, I almost immediately sit down and listen to it with undivided attention. Other than that, I am usually doing other things while listening. Music is on more often than not at our house.
  20. My friend John. My friend Jason too.
