Testicular cancer linked to marijuana use
.:.impossible replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
The real question isn't what marijuana does to your testicles. The real question is what it does to your sphincter. -
Good to know re: pricing. As I said, I haven't used a CDR in over two years, so I'm pretty out of the loop. I just can't think of a need for them anymore.

I guess it all comes down to risk vs. reward. -
TY's are a board favorite, as are Mitsui, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't bought CDRs in over two years, but I was getting them from american digital.

Www.rvajazz.com is a great example of the blog as a local news source specifically focusing on regional, jazz-related events. -
It goes even beyond the audience, I have a friend who saw him do a solo concert at Oberlin many years ago and after intermission he had the piano tuner come out, he wasn't happy with the tuning, bitched the guy out and started to tune the piano himself. Someone from the audience yelled "sounds good to me asshole" where Jarrett said "only at Oberlin" and walked off. Despite how much I love his talent I have yet to see him live as it always seemed like a high risk or high reward type of proposition. That is hilarious. I would have felt like I got my money's worth that night.

I think someone gave me Mars Hotel when I was 14. Younger actually. That and the Long, Strange Trip 2x cassette collection.

I immediately thought of this when I saw "hello world". After hearing it, I wake up every morning and say "Hello World!"

Just yesterday, on the way home from the Drive-By Truckers show in Asheville, I had to make an emergency "pit stop". We chose Panera Bread. As I sat, contemplating Keith Jarrett's merits, on the overhead was... HERBIE NICHOLS!!! What?!!!

Blue Note Records Listening Party
.:.impossible replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Off the top of my head, some stand-outs that might have been representative of the label's different interests. Golden Circle Out to Lunch! The Last Session Indestructible! Street of Dreams Sonny Clark Trio or Horace Silver Trio or Herbie Nichols Trio (I would have a tough time choosing between these, but I would end up on Nichols) Fats Navarro and Tadd Dameron: The Complete Blue Note and Capitol Recordings There is such a range of music to choose from. Maybe a good point to try to make, since Blue Note seems to be so identified with HARD BOP and the Jazz Messengers style of music. in that case, maybe one of the last Wayne Shorter sessions... Moto Grosso Feio, Supernova, Odyssey of Iska? -

It sucks to see this happening. CC is headquartered in Richmond, VA. My hometown. Lots of people affected. I really don't understand why they aren't slashing prices. My wife and sister-in-law stopped in to one last weekend and it was basically business as usual. -

I enjoy being foolish! I think you do too. Consuming pixels? Let's derail this thread. You, me, Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde, before any more pixels/pac-dots are consumed! I haven't heard enough Jarrett to understand what all the fuss is about. I did just recently buy the Sun Bear LPs for a bargain and listened to the first three sides. Still not at all sure what the fourth will sound like. I guess I ought to make up my mind!

This Is Our Music | The Ornette Coleman Quartet Bought the new Rhino issue at my local shop, along with Donny Hathaway Live! Its really nice to see a decent selection showing up at my local shop. For the past two years, it has been like walking into the pitchforkmedia.com website. Lots of Blue Note stuff up on the walls now too, though I'm pretty sure they are the digital transfers. -
Two Dickerson albums right Joe? Tell Us Only The Beautiful Things and 1976? I would absolutely love to hear these.

Happy Birthday Baby Mac
.:.impossible replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I've read that many people created a makeshift chimney using that exact can, as prescribed by Woz. I think he actually preferred a tapered cardboard chimney, but... -

I've never had any issues ordering from jazzloft.com. I have however had issues with the mail service.
