  1. All prices include shipping in US. Paypal only. PM about international. Tal Farlow $80 Hank Mobley $75 Randy Weston Select $30 Andrew Hill Select 16 $35 Nat King Cole Hip-O Select $30
  2. If it takes me 30 years and I have to sell off a chunk of my collection to afford it, I will have that one day.
  3. http://www.avclub.com/articles/denzel-washington-may-take-a-break-from-being-an-a,69270/ Personally I like Wendell Pierce for this part, but whatever. I'd say there's about a 500 to 1 chance this movie gets made anyways and I'm sure we'll be all the better for it.
  4. As far as your question about price, for some reason or another this, along with the Maynard Ferguson, is one of the most competitive Mosaics on Ebay. For a CD version you're looking at $175-250 easy, between $200-300+ for the LP.
  5. My understanding with School Days is that Hat acquired the rights and put out their editions in 1992 and 2003. Nearly a decade passed and Davidson came under the impression that the rights were up for grabs again, so he pressed his edition on CD last year. He quickly learned that Hat still held the rights and was planning to repress it again and so withdrew the disc. But I do think it was pressed-- anybody have one?
  6. Hm, only 3 new titles announced this quarter: Jimmy Lyons/Sunny Murray Trio JUMP UP Marco Von Orrelli 6 CLOSE TIES ON HIDDEN LANES Eskelin/LiebmanMarino/Black NON SEQUITORS Nice to see the Lyons but still still still waiting on a few that have been dangled before us for years.
  7. Great, but I like Filles even more.
  8. I was wondering if there were any other jazz releases from the late 80s A&M series that included the Roach/Gillespie - Paris 1989, Cecil Taylor - In Florescence and Don Cherry - Art Deco albums? All three are fantastic so I'm hoping there's more.
  9. George Shearing - The Shearing Piano (Capitol) Sounded nice enough at 5:30am.
  10. I'll take October.
  11. You can buy the majority of her material in 3 or 4 sets: The Complete Columbia: http://www.amazon.com/Lady-Day-Complete-Columbia-Golden/dp/B0029XIWCY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328713477&sr=8-1 The Complete Decca: http://www.amazon.com/Billie-Holiday-Complete-Decca-Recordings/dp/B000003N36/ref=pd_sim_m_2 The Complete Commodore: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Commodore-Recordings-Billie-Holiday/dp/B0000001NM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328713665&sr=8-1 The Complete Verve: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Billie-Holiday-Verve-1945-1959/dp/B0000046P3/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1328713604&sr=8-7 While the Columbia set does run 10 discs, it is among the greatest of all jazz box sets and for $25 it's a no-brainer. Master Take editions are available for all but the Decca. There's also this monster which pulls most of this together in master takes: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Masters-1933-Billie-Holiday/dp/B005NNJK0K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1328713714&sr=8-5 Start with the Columbia, but get them all!
  12. Bud Shank & Bob Cooper - Blowin' Country (World Pacific)
  13. The acts were The Remains, Heeb, Cyrkle, and the Ronettes. Pretty solid bill!
  14. Don Pullen-George Adams Quartet - Song Everlasting (Blue Note)
  15. Amazon has all of them in the 25-35$ range.
  16. Saw/heard Doug and Duke in Copenhagen in 1980. Must be a good memory. Listening to his first recording, he played very well at 21 years of age. I haven't kept up with his recent playing. Perhaps I should do so. Spitting image of his dad.
  17. Jimmy Lyons & Andrew Cyrille - "Take The A Train" Just wonderful.
  18. I agree, these are very underrated
  19. Very, very worth it. I won one a few months ago for about $30. But eBay being what it is that could turn into $75 this time around. But good luck!!
  20. I agree and have no problem with that. I'll go there if nothing shakes out.
  21. I saw that. Did you just get a CD, or did it come with at least a fascimile of the artwork? $15 for just a CDR seems excessive.
  22. Looking for these two discs, one or both, for a decent price. Just PM me with an offer if you're looking to sell.
  23. Waiting on the hatOLOGY edition, CLICHES, to arrive in the mail Shorn a couple tracks, but it looks like a good one.
  24. GEORGE E LEWIS above all else. Second on MRA, Hemphill, Bang & Lowe. Would also like to see Ran Blake, Andrew Cyrille, more David Murray, John Lindberg, Dave Douglas, and Hamiet Bluiett.
  25. Revelation. If you're looking to unload them ... RIP to Mr Fischer, as well. An original thinker for certain.
