  1. I'm light on his leader dates, but I will certainly be spinning him with George Russell, Lee Konitz, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Paul Bley and Geri Allen today. Links on a chain breaking each day ...
  2. Wow, a shock. I am so sad. One of the undisputed masters of his instrument.
  3. Not really a box set, but Horace Tapscott - The Dark Tree is on sale for $16.97 at Jazz Loft. As good a price as you'll see for this amazing, wonderful record. http://www.jazzloft.com/c-36-hatsale.aspx Some Braxton, Lacy, Shepp/Roach dbl CDs on sale too.

Er, one more still: The above-mentioned Iridium set for $60 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anthony-Braxton-9-Compositions-Iridium-2006-/290634089519?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item43ab24442f#ht_500wt_1200

Good deal on Trillium E: $40 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTHONY-BRAXTON-Trillium-E-4-CD-BOX-Set-2011-/370559198197?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item56470ca3f5#ht_801wt_1137 One more deal: Charlie Parker Project (1993) and Creative Orchestra (Koln) 1978 on sale at big, bad Jazz Loft for $16.95.

Are you thinking of the piano music set? The Iridium is on Firehouse 12.
  7. I can't count how many times Amazon listings have got my hopes up like that
  8. Bump. RVGs, OJCs, ECMs, ESPs, JSPs, IAIs, BYGs ... you name it I'll give it a shot.
  9. Note this, however: PLEASE READ: MISSING CD #3. Other 12 CDs in very good condition. Case of disc 13 with crack. artworks great too. NO slipcase present.
  10. Wow, those are painfully random. With the Henderson, for instance, you're one disc short of having all his 60s Blue Notes. I guess they make OK samplers? I would spring for the Cassandra Wilson, I suppose.
  11. Not sure what the Euro conversion rate is like but I posted that Amazon UK is selling those sets for £10 on the previous page. And about that, is there a distinct advantage to owning them if you have all the Legacy CDs? I know the Gil Evans does have a substantial amount of extra music but what of the other two? Last thing: the Black Saint/Soul Note boxes are finally starting to hit Amazon (though no Lacy, Braxton or Konitz yet) and the prices are great-- most around $25-30.
  12. If I could only own 3 Mosaics, the Bix, Farlow and Mobley would be it. So, good choice!
  13. Maybe you're aware it was also released in the Americans Swinging in Paris series paired with Les Stances a Sophie. But I agree it would be nice to have a CD issue from Chuck with the original art, etc.
  14. The Miles Coltrane, Gil Evans, and 65-68 long boxes are all available around 10 pounds on Amazon.uk
  15. Man, that Aboriginal Music Society set looks nice. A bit out of price range, however.
  16. I don't know why I'm even bothering here but I find it bitterly ironic that a board whose members have a tendency to get rather sanctimonious about buying new jazz have managed to find a way to turn on someone who (I think) goes above and beyond to make this music easily available for purchase in the US. Just my two cents.
  17. Spare copy up for trade to a US address. Make me an offer, I'll take just about anything I don't have.
  18. edit: Of course I always could have checked Wikipedia ... looks like he did tons of West Coast session work and even played on the M*A*S*H and Cheers themes. Pity he didn't do more in the free music realm. His solo bass is as captivating as any I've heard from the likes of Kowald and Phillips.
  19. I agree it's a lot better than most people would expect, but have you hear this one? I might, might, put it above Rural Still Life, in spite of the off-putting concept and cover. Tom Scott - soprano & tenor sax, flute Roger Kellaway - piano, harpsichord, clavinet Chuck Domanico - bass John Guerin - drums Interesting to see Chuck Domanico's name pop up, and on a 70s Impulse! no less. His work with Anthony Ortega is magnificent and I've been wondering what else he did.
  20. Amazing success!! I'm glad it was such a hit. Is Steig's Flute Fever still next up?
  21. Correct.
  22. http://www.leorecords.com/?m=christmassale More or less the whole back catalogue on sale at £2 per disc. The catch is that you have to buy in multiples of 10. But that oughtn't be hard for those interested, and the deal is still extreme.
  23. Can you link to the Amazon UK page for that please?
