I've been eyeing the reissue of that one. Seems foolish to ask you if its "worth" the $23...

One too many runs through "You, And The Night, and The Music". He finally cracked.

It's listed as an import, but I'm guessing the status will change when it comes out.

What live music are you going to see tonight?

Sounds like my kind of party. I really, really miss Chicago. -
It's well worth tracking down the CD which adds a brilliant suite of 1990 improvisations with Urs Leimgruber & Fritz Hauser. Oh, and please begin my funeral with the title track.

I saw that too. I sure hope CvsD does more Hats, especially the remaining 70s McPhees (Willisau Concert, Rotation, Graphics, and Tales & Prophecies). The Phillip Wilson/Olu Dara would be great as well. I have the Carroll on LP and it's very, very good. My guess re: Emanem is that more Lacy will come out, like Tips. I think the only other 70s date not reissued at some point is Stamps, but it seems to me the label sort of shies away from jazzier group things, so I wonder if something like that would happen. Other than that, it's hard to say because a lot of the obscure 70s titles are by French and Swiss players, whereas Emanem seems to stick more with the UK, US and Germany ...

New McPhee-Corsano CDR from their recent tour. There are some sets on YouTube that are real nice. http://www.discogs.com/Joe-McPhee-Chris-Corsano-Duo-Dream-Defenders/release/6178596

Never seen that one. Looks great.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll get the Mad Dogs OTL set, too. Glad to see one of these for sale in the US, that's kind of what I've been holding out for. I grabbed a couple stealth Amazon Prime deals (free two-day shipping): Joe Maneri Quartet - Let The Horse Go $5.97 Thomas Borgmann Trio - The Last Concert $7.97

As I mentioned in the Listening thread the other day, Conference of the Birds sounds like shit. But I suppose that was in the air at the time. Really? How so? I have a mint German vinyl issue and it sounds excellent to me... I admit I only have the CD, but the bass is the typical 70s sound: clear, thin, and rubbery. The drums are distant and tinny. Generally no depth with kind of an odd balance. Maybe I'd be happier with a German LP. But like I said, it comes off as typically terrible 70s production to me. I'd rather it were ECM'd!

Came here to post this very video, but I'll add this one in its place: (here, again, is the video posted initially-- worth another look!):

I was wondering if there was an error or recall of some sort as it seemed to have been yanked. I guess not? I'll just place an order with Uptown then.

Thanks. Thanks to my father I have had an appreciation for Sam Cooke's music since I was 5 years old and I know my appreciation for his art will carry on to my final days. Glad to see someone paying him the attention he deserves.

Import Cds - the online retailer - what do you guys think of them?
colinmce replied to skeith's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I'm two days away from the 10 day mark on the item I ordered ("usually ships in 5-10 days), which I was charged for and know I will never receive. I will ask for a refund at that time and hope that this doesn't become an enormous hassle. -
Might as well ask this here as it's something I've always wondered and never bothered to find out: is the EC RVG studio still around? Is it still more or less the same as it was or has it been renovated?

This is the problem with Garden. I've never seen either individual volume at a price that wouldn't be laughable for the whole thing.

The never-endingly frustrating Upcoming Releases (starting April 2015) has been updated yet again with a million more additions and really frustrating new configurations of the items dogging this list for 10 years: http://www.hathut.com/upcoming (If you think not reissuing the Braxton stuff for 20-25 years is getting old, just wait until he puts out one half and never releases the other...) Obligatory bitching, however, must be countered by obligatory thanks for all the label has done and continues to do despite all odds ...

I just can't fathom trying to replace a piano with Fender (which I just flat out hate). Why bother with the performance under those conditions? Sounds like a bummer to me. -
Spoon - Girls Can Tell The Walkmen - Bows + Arrows Built To Spill - Keep It Like A Secret The National - Alligator Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway

Well put. Reminds me of an anecdote Josh Sinton passed along. Lacy told Sinton he should literally "walk his scales", i.e. walk back & forth a step for each note on a scale. Lacy said it took him a little bit before he felt like he got it down. "How long?" Sinton asked. "Oh, about 25 years" said Lacy.
