  1. Sounds like a very nice time.
  2. Cool indeed. Do you think this is the original pressing or the later reissue? I seem to have finally scored The Baptised Traveller! And for $10 to boot. White whale!

I honestly don't much enjoy Roundabout either. The setting and inspiration of the Lincoln project works wonders, though. And if you don't have BOTH recordings with Sara Serpa you are missing out on something major.
  4. Sounds perfect. "There's too much light in the world" -Ran
  5. One last hoo-ra at Reckless. Hopefully they'll fill it (I think the cutoff is the 6th): ANDERSON, FRED/ DKV TRIO--FRED ANDERSON/ DKV TRIO (MINI LP SLEEVE) on CD 1@$7.99 = $7.99 GUSTAFSSON, MATS--MOUTH EATING TREES on CD 1@$8.99 = $8.99 LEWIS, GEORGE--HOMAGE TO CHARLIE PARKER on CD 1@$8.99 = $8.99 GUY, BARRY NEW ORCHESTRA--INSCAPE- TABLEAUX (SWISS IMPORT) on CD 1@$14.99 = $14.99 BENDIAN, GREGG--GREGG BENDIAN'S INTERZONE (REISSUE) on CD 1@$8.99 = $8.99 TCHICAI, JOHN--LOVE NOTES FROM THE MADHOUSE on CD 1@$6.99 = $6.99

You can also get the second volume of Ran & Christine Correa's Abbey Lincoln tribute through the website. The first volume was tremendous.
  7. In the middle of assembling a rather large Reckless mailorder, I saw a note posted on the site that they are suspending mailorder for the time being. A fairly devastating blow to this far-flung listener. Fuck.
  8. Not that I know of. Foreign listings on Discogs are probably your best bet. I got Stone Fog off Amazon for 6 cents last year, though ...
  9. They didn't. It charged instantly, even though it was PayPal which always takes 48 hours to appear in my statement. I think I caught myself up in some shit here.
  10. It is. I found it a bit drab, but Zimpel is a fine solist. It sounds like the new Olie Brice record is a good showcase of his talents. I also dig him in Vandermark's Resonance Ensemble.
  11. Can't speak to the personal side of things, but he did the recent 1965 Jimmy Giuffre thing, which was very well done on all counts.
  12. They did charge. Hm. Re-reading this thread I think this was a bad idea!
  13. I just ordered something that was listed as "ships in 5-10 days". Good idea? Do they charge before they ship? I'm not hopeful I'll actually get it but figured if try.
  14. Vandermark is unleashing: 6xCD Extended Duos with PNL Duo with Nate Wooley and, of course, the aforementioned brand new 5 and 6 CD sets. The Wooley duo is one I would certainly grab.
  15. Jackie's Bag and One Step Beyond. I'd glance longingly at It's Time and Bluesnik as I ran out.
  16. The Dark Tree is truly essential.
  17. This is a very good observation. I think you're right.
  18. I really wanted to like this one more than I do. Oh well. I was slightly underwhelmed on first listen as well and filed it away. Pulling it out again today, I like it more. I'll spin it a few more times.
  19. I must remember to listen tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up! Also, I've sent you a PM.
  20. I find the packages annoying and the art repulsive. I like all the records I've heard, though!
  21. I saw that. Enjoy! I envy you ...
  22. Fantastic set, unbeatable price
  23. Went on a little binge. Sorry not sorry! Anthony Braxton - 8+3 Tristano Compositions (For Warne Marsh) Brötzmann/Noble/Edwards - Soulfood Available Paul Dunmall - Quartet & Sextet/Babu Trio Julius Hemphill & Peter Kowald - Live at Kasseopeia Lou Donaldson - Quartet/Quintet/Sextet The latter is one of the first jazz CDs I ever heard. Just now found a copy at a price I like. Can't wait to hear it again.

    Albert Ayler

You can get a copy from Martin Davidson. Amazon was out recently, and may still be.
  25. 4,5,6 is the only one I have. I was always holding out for a box set, but that looks unlikely. I should start grabbing the OJCs I suppose.
