I think he's suitably outstanding on Andrew!! Maybe not as memorable on Blowing In From Chicago but that one is a favorite nonetheless.

Coupled on a DVD along with an Ornette Coleman short that has priceless footage of the Izenon/Moffett trio recoding the Who's Crazy soundtrack.

Not a lot that caught my attention (that I don't already have), but I picked up: Sten Sandell Trio + John Butcher - Strokes Marty Ehrlich's Rites Quartet - Frog Leg Logic Empty Cage Quartet - Gravity Not at all familiar with the last one, but the blurbs swung me (Waddada is a fan).

Me too, from the same place a few months ago when it was $8.47. I wonder how a title comes to be priced like that at random.

Schlippenbach Trio - Gold Is Where You Find It $3.47 at Amazon

Two new TUMs that look nice: Mikko Innanen w/ William Parker & Andrew Cyrille Bill Laswell & Milford Graves well, amended: YMMV w/ the latter. Duos with Graves are always a good idea, but I can't stand Bill Laswell. Total cheeseball. But I'd keep an open mind for this one.

That's one of a few Lps that I regret selling many years ago. I found my copy in mint shape for $4 and could not resist the easy/quick profit to be had at the time One I want a lot, too but I can't blame you -- I might do the same.

Cabu of Cabu Jazz collection killed in Paris attack

I have the Lester Young clarinet collection he did. Awful, awful, awful. -
Along those lines, is it widely known there's a video of GUO from 1970 on there? I just saw it for the first time last night. Pretty amazing to see a 26yo Evan Parker, among all the others.

Passed this up a million times at my old haunt in Iowa City. Original press for $5. Oops?

I think that's very true.

How is Walt Dickerson's "Lawrence of Arabia" (Dauntless)?
colinmce replied to Bol's topic in Recommendations
Life Rays on Soul Note is incredible. His best, IMO (though I haven't heard any Steeplechases). -
Couple of gems there. Coin Coin Chapter Two is startling stuff. Indeed. I've listened to both volumes several times on Spotify, but with the new one arriving soon I figured I should start to buy them up.

You are a couple of hours from New Orleans? It's worth it to travel to hear music. Yes. Currently life circumstances (I have a 3 year old and work nights and weekends) prevent this but I hopefully in years to come I'll get a new job and have more leeway. Life is long indeed. Though it is a sincere goal to see Kidd Jordan before it's too late.

What's the most you'd pay for a CD/Album?
colinmce replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous Music
For a single CD, $35 is about tops, but that's only for the very few at the tip-top of my list. I could go up to about $35-40 for a double or triple with the same caveat. I don't really buy many box sets, and never ones over $60 or so, so I can't say about that. Same with vinyl, almost never buy it and never drop much when I do. I think the most I ever spent on a single disc is about $25 for Joe McPhee's As Serious As Your Life. I paid $45 for Braxton/Santa Cruz. I also spent $66 on the two volumes of Ran Blake's Painted Rhythms. Generally, though, I'm a deals man and try to get CDs in the $3-15 range. You'd be surprised how things fall in your lap if you wait, like with the two Tony Oxley CBS CDs I pined after for years: I got both for $10/free shipping. -
........,... ..... ....... (sigh)
