  1. Coming back down to earth, you also can't go wrong with any early jazz comps done by RCA/Bluebird or Columbia in the 80s. There are tons and they're all very cheap.
  2. Wow, great. I was enthralled by what I heard. Great cover to boot.
  3. For me, these two are the two. The Evans in particular is among my favorites of the era.
  4. I'll reiterate my suggestion for Lacy & Waldron - Journey Without End on Japanese Victor, 1971. I'll try to think of more.
  5. A bit obscure maybe, but sealed copies of Franz Koglmann's Schlaf Schlemmer, Schlaf Magritte on hatART are popping up at all the usual places for less than $10. A good price on a good album that was seemingly OOP.
  6. I figured I'd ask here since I know a lot of you all use Amazon regularly. When I tried to make a purchase on Amazon this weekend, it declined my payment saying that some of my information could have been entered wrong. I've deleted my payment info and re-entered it several times, but still no dice. And it's not like I've updated it anytime recently-- It's all the same as when I first put it in after getting a new card months ago. I see they now accept bank accounts, so I entered that and placed and order, so we'll see what happens. If I'm not mistaken, the payment process seems different than before. Did something change on Amazon's end that could be causing this? Who knows. But I'd be interested to see if anyone else had this issue lately.
  7. You will be in a good place.
  8. A few from the front page of DG: Jacques Coursil & Alan Silva - Free Jazz Art: Sessions for Bill Dixon (Rogue Art) Mats Gustafsson - Torturing the Saxophone (CvsD) Rob Mazurek - Mother Ode (CvsD) The last two are both solos.
  9. Bah. How'd you swing that one?

    Anthony Braxton

Braxton's '85 chops indeed. He was working on an exalted level then.
  11. Not a bad price, no, but I was browsing pretty casually. I'm confident I could grab it closer to $45-50 at some point. But if not, I'd be happy to pay $65.
  12. Yeah, I saw that one. I think I could do better down the road, price wise.
  13. Got a refund and an out of stock notice. Ho hum.

    Anthony Braxton

Agreed. I kind of wish people would drop that.
  15. Roll with it, it's worth it and then some. If you were so inclined this could be all the Hawk you need, but chances are you will not be so inclined after hearing it.
  16. Odd. All I saw was a 15e option. I added it, went to pay, which went straight to PayPal with 2e tacked on for shipping. My receipt didn't say anything about downloading, nor have I gotten a follow up email with that kind of info. We'll see how it plays out.
  17. Following the download link on Saravah leads to links to download at several different sites. Nothing specific to the label.
  18. Hm. All I saw was a 15 euro option. I purchased it and they tacked on 2 for shipping. I didn't get any note about downloading or a link or the like. I hope I didn't just spend money on mp3s...
  19. Another good one for very early jazz is The Riverside History of Classic Jazz-- 3 CDs.
  20. So I just put in an order for this from Saravah. They have it on their website for 17eur shipped ($24). The order went through seamlessly and I saw no notice about it being out of stock or anything. The website is also up to date. We'll see what happens?
  21. Beating The Teens, Ideal Bread's cover of the entirety of Scratching The Seventies, is out in May. Amazon has a preorder.
  22. Not unlike Mal Waldron or Ran Blake, he doesn't have to play a lot to get his point across.
  23. Anything by Smithsonian is great and always incredibly cheap. I especially recommend their two vocal compilations Swing That Music (4 CDs of big band and swing vocalists) and American Popular Song (5xCD). Jazz Piano (4xCD) is also fantastic and the Big Band set (6xCD) is quite serviceable. Needless to say they also contain extensive and brilliant notes by the likes of Gunther Schuller and Dick Katz.
  24. I got my clean feed package yesterday-- 20 days.
  25. Yeah. Mosaic was planning a Single edition of this one.
