Yesterday. I found an LP copy of Confirmation (LT-992), and the personnel listing on the back indicates that Art Blakey plays on all three tracks: Confirmation (Feb. 1958) What is This Thing Called Love (Aug. 1957) Cherokee (Aug. 1957) The discography at www.jazzdico.org lists Donald Bailey as the drummer for "What is This..." and "Cherokee." Who was right in this situation: the album or the website?

Hey thanks everybody! Just got back from Ann Arbor where pops and I played last night Tonight we're celebrating my birthday with a concert at The Saugatuck Women's Club.. Ooooohhhhhh yeeeeaaaaahhhh! Whoa! Hope the drinks are on the house, both literally and figuratively (with an emphasis on the FIGURE! )

Kevin has been our "in" with Michael for a long time. When he announces a new batch for a particular date, you can take it to the bank ... to withdraw the cash to pay for 'em. Heh heh heh heh.... yep! -_-

Rangers on an incredible run right now, which I attribute to four things: 1) Sammy hittin' #600 (they're 11-5 since (and including) that game) 2) Mark Texeira and Ian Kinsler on the DL (the first one is overrated, as he only hits when the game is outta reach; the second is greener than the Triple-A guys who are taking their places) 3) Brad Wilkerson FINALLY hitting the ball! The cat's been on fire the last few days! 4) Starting pitchers actually going at least six innings! Unbelieveable! Unheard of in April and May! I hope this means a permanent turnaround. I won't hold my breath, but it sure has been fun being a Ranger fan lately!

Got it when it came out back in late '89 when I was still in the throes of mass "must have everything Beatles related" euphoria. Didn't make much of an impression on me, and it seemed to open the door for Jeff Lynne to not only fulfill his fantasy of filling the void left by John Lennon, but then proceeded to churn out any number of albums by the various Wilburys that all sounded the same: Full Moon Fever, Cloud Nine (I know it came out before the Wilburys, but still in the same class), the Orbison comeback record (which out of all of these had more than its fair share of grand moments), Lynne's own solo record (I forget the title, it's bad enough I even remembered there was such an animal), Into the Great Wide Open, on and on and on.... all with the same slick synthesized sound. You couldn't tell one record from the other. I'm surprised Dylan didn't get a solo record out of Lynne! I'm with GregK: this could've been so much better, and the fact that it was so off-the-cuff made the notion of paying for this exercise about as insulting as recording a Beach Boys 'party,' and then making people pay for that (although in all fairness, that contained the kind of overproduction that Lynne only dreams about).
