  1. Big Al

    Herbie Hancock

His drumming does nothing for me either. Sextant is some baaaaaaaaaaad heavy shit!!! B-)
  2. It is an absolute joy! It was the first Mosaic I ever got, and still enjoy it immensely. In addition to Byrd and Adams, the set has a virtual who's who of jazz: Jackie McLean, Art Taylor, Sam Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Billy Higgins, Herbie Hancock, Wynton Kelly, Duke Pearson, Charlie Rouse, etc etc etc etc!!!
  3. This one will be a treat tonight! I hope to be able to listen to it! (Edited to remove a repetitious repetition)
  4. Big Al will be the guy with Styx on his iPod. Hope it doesn't bother the band. Drat! And I was *SO* hoping y'all would play "Mr. Roboto."
  5. God, traffic, and family schedules willing.... HELL YEAH I'LL BE THERE!!!!! (hope that doesn't deter others from going, though )
  6. How sad that a couple of posters over there have the unmitigated arrogance to believe that they define what Jazz Corner is. (Edited to add proper context)
  7. My copy arrived today and everything you guys said has been right on the mark. As usual! B-)
  8. Yup!
  9. No Al, it would be cooler still if Defrancesco stayed home ansd wasn't even on the bill!
  10. The only way this would be cooler is if the ad read: Organissimo opening for Joey Defrancesco at the AAC in downtown Dallas!!!
  11. I like this one too. I say you alternate the moose avatars. Keep us on the edge of our seats. What Rachel and AB said!!!
  12. Welllll, one week will be devoted to what Phil Schapp thinks he knows about Lady Day.
  13. Well if it weren't for the fact that you have a HECKUVA show on the air, and the fact that you could give lessons on insightfulness to some other big-name jazz deejays..... you, my friend, have earned every accolade! Plus, you sound like YOU'RE having a fun time as well!!!!
  14. Like they say, absemce nakes the heart grow fomder. D'OH!!!!!
  15. Oh come on, y'all know the reason for Hans's absemce is because he's been busy listening to that nice shiny Bill Evans Verve box he recently acquired.......
  16. Well, or for a few who actually did... I remember several of us, freshman year in high school (when it came out) in a rather stoned state, trying to find the backward masking where it allegedly said, "Congratulations! You have discovered the meaning of THE WALL." What a way to kill an afternoon, eh? Duuuuuuude, you play the beginning of "Empty Spaces" backwards!!!
  17. Y'al better start the "answer" thread without me. I've got some guesses started, but haven't had time to finish them. Maybe by the end of the weekend, but I'll get there eventually!
  18. I frickin' HATE The Wall. That's a record for kids who wished they smoked pot. But the comment about "Run Like Hell" still stands!
  19. This is the truth. It's been ages since I last logged onto AAJ, even longer for JC (I dno't even post there anymore). I logged onto AAJ to see if there was anything that captured my interest; after wading through ELEVEN pages, there was absolutely nothing that even remotely interested me. Whereas here, I could easily waste.... er, I mean spend an entire day here!!!
  20. Al the DVD is really good... now I have an idea how to repay for that Allman Brothers... OooooooooH!!
  21. Picked this up yesterday and all I can say is..... DAMN!!!!!! I was reading the liners to this and didn't realize that this was Art Taylor's final session before he passed away less than two weeks later! How eerie is this: Taylor's passing was a little over ten years to the day before Smiths! Taylor passed away 2/6/95; Smith on 2/17/05. God rest 'em both!
  22. Man, who'da thunk Vermont would've pulled off the upset?
  23. Yeah!!!
