His birthday being today helps explain the 100 tubas thing a bit more. I wonder how hard it is to get 100 jazz tubists to do a free show.

Congrats Mavs! As much as it sucks to see the Pistons lose, im sure being a Miami or Dallas fan for the last two decades has been alot worse. -

This strategy is one of the things that disgusts me about the modern NBA. If the best you can do is just go in and blatantly foul your opponent, then frankly you deserve to lose the game. When this started becoming common, you saw players sort of hanging their heads when following coach's orders, but now it's just part of the game. It drags things out and makes it an ugly game. I would definitely support a rule change to eliminate this -- probably giving the ball back to the fouled team in the last thirty seconds of a game when the foul is clearly intentional and not done in the course of defending a shot. I firmly believe a coach should do whatever is necessary to win, as long as its within the rules. I have no problem with the hack strategy. However, it usually doesnt work. You figure a good team shoots 50%, which mean they would average a point per possession, right? Well fouling Shaq everytime is no better because he hit over 50% usually. Take into account no more forcing turnovers, and its really not a good strategy. However, when Ben shoots 22% in the playoffs, hacking him is a great idea. Leaving him in to be hacked, (FLIP!) is not. Also, within the last two mintues of the game and off the ball foul is one FT and retaining possession. So their actually is rule that makes hacking moot in the last couple minutes. -

As crazy as it sounds, the Pistons played a good game. They got open looks and defended well (except against you know who.) Nothing much you can when shots just arent falling. Conversely, everything was dropping for the Heat and White Chocolate. Cant complain when you are only 2 years removed from a championship. I think with last years game seven, the piston organization was convinced they didnt need to get any better. And they didnt. Hopefully this will teach Joe D to do something about improving this team. (which is still a long way away from being done.) If only we had Darko.... -

You can see where Ben's leg is in those shorts, going straight up and not even close to Shaq. By body contact, I assume you mean their knees barely touching? -

Heat want no part in a game 7. Better bring it for game 6. This is classic Detroit basketball. Ben was just plain insane, and I want to move to Massachusetts and marry Tay. i need to find a pic of that Ben mega bitch slap block on shaq. -

Donati and Macalpine are both trash. They are about as musical as running a 4 minute mile. Slash has 1000x the taste that either of these guys have. -

Anu more comments on the sound? All I have to go by in the clips on emusic, and they do sound a little nicer I think. -

It sure helps when you make it to the line more than double your opponent. Looks like breathing near a heat player is now a foul. Usually, game 5 would be a mortal lock for the pistons, but who knows with Flip running things. Bring back Larry Brown! -
From Bill Simmons. I used to dislike the guy, but he has been scary accurate as of late on most issues.

Pistons will take this series. Im a little less sure than I was for the Cleveland series. The pistons just hate having a lead in a series. It makes it a bit stressful. (and for the record, they would be up 3-0 if they would have kept Darko!) Flip needs to take Ben out in the late 4th querter. Hack a ben won that game yesterday. Its not like McDyess isnt a great player, PLAY HIM! Once the series wears on, and the Heat get as tired as the pistons are, it will be different. Game 4 should be a doozy. -

I came across a crazy one today: Joe Pass - Stones Jazz. Anyone want to hear a lightly swinging Joe Pass (with band) play "19th nervous breakdown"? me neither. -

Well that pretty much wraps up the Pistons championship. Thanks Mavs! -
Despite BeBop's substantial (and I would argue baseless) reservations, this service is proving its worth over time. While perfect cds bought form a store would be preferable, at 1.49 I think the service is fantastic, especially for those of us with a more modest budget. Yesterday I received a gorgeous Andrew Hill disc, 'But not Farewell' that is OOP. With liner notes and the tray card. Definitely WELL worth my money (especially compared to the 48 dollars its going for on ebay.) I have recieved a few discs without liner notes, but its still worth the risk for only a buck fifty. Most still come with atleast the cd booklet. I have recieved 11 cds now, 7 with booklet and liner, 9 with atleast the booklet. Total price: 16.39. as for the digipack problem, i just dont even request those cds. But more importantly, this Andrew Hill disc is fantastic. Osby, Robin Eubanks, Lonnic Blaxico supporting.

Haha. When delusion strikes! Darko has a better chance at MVP than the Cavs do at winning the series, let alone in 6/
