Too bad they did not include the tracks from these sessions that were issued on Jimmy Smith's "Any Number Can Win" LP.

My own CD compilation of all Tito Puente Tico tracks on which he plays vines.

That's the rhythm of the tune, counted Indian style - the numbers say how many pulses/sixteenth notes are for each beat.

They had been playing in Hamburg, and Desmond met his old friend Herb Geller and they got lost on the Reeperbahn. Desmond was drinking too much and did not show up for the flight to Vienna. He caught the plane to Paris to join them two days later. Earlier discussion here.

This arrived yesterday. Very good recorded sound, faultless pressing. Nice to hear Brubeck, Wright, and Morello stretch out. I wish Brubeck would have embarked on a trio adventure, if only for a few years. They do very unexpected things with the standards here. Then, some more items from the crate an old friend hauled over a few weeks ago: Technical drums display - Earl Hines plays a bit of piano. The sound is stunningly natural and good, as always on RealTime recordings. Just what you'd expect ....

Why in all the world did I buy this? Probably for Ray Crawford's participation. But that isn't enough reason to keep it. Now this instantly gets me. Paul Bryant had his own style and very subtle dynamics. Great stuff.

This album was once recommended to me by some second hand dealer, and he was right! Atlantic did a great job of having jazz players accompany blues and r & b artists.

Niko pointed out some minor details to me - the disco has been updated accordingly.

This is not a red - it is a white wine made from red grapes, Pinot Noir in this case. I like Pinot Noir as Blanc de Noirs, but rarely drink them as red wine.
