Excellent music, perfectly played. Two concertos each from his Berlin and Dresden years, all first recordings, the former with a bassoon/fortepiano continuo as was common at Frederick the Great's chamber music.

I will get me this and the other Jason Moran albums on Bandcamp later this year. Moran is one of the few musicians that make me listen and catch my attention from the first notes. I regret I did not go to hear him when he was performing in a neighbouring city a few years ago.

That's the way it should be. I remember giving my copy of Michael Howell's LP "The Looking Glass" to conga player Tom Nicholas who was on the album but didn't have a copy. And when I learned from Tjader biographer S. Duncan Reid that Paul Horn, with whom he was very close, didn't have a copy of his own album for RCA "Jazz Suites For the Mass Texts" I contacted a friend who had a copy. He digitized the album and de-noised it, and we sent cleaned-up CDR copies to California. Paul was delighted.

More of this kind in the afternoon: The irony of things is, these were all major figures in their time! We are so limited in our evaluation of music from centuries ago.

Same here. I generally do not like ratings. That is not to say that such lists cannot spark interest in an album. But sometimes I love music that almost everybody else dislikes. After all, we all have our individual tastes.
