  1. Germany's best a capella vocal group in a brand new release that might please fans of the King's Singers as well as those of the Hi-Lo's - had my wife unwrap this first, and as I expected, she loved it- A gift from a longtime dear friend - three fantastic German musicians playing their own highly original arrangements of German Christmas songs - accordionist Martin Wagner is absolutely great! This will appeal to anybody who likes this instrument even though he might not know the songs. http://www.tango-transit.de/musik/neu-cd-engelrausch-froehliche-stille-nacht/
  2. For morning coffee: In the car during some final shopping: At home again: And right now, one of my favourites, a killer of a Christmas album:
  3. Today: French songs and dances from a late 19th century French songbook LeBlanc's cousin gave to her - presented in an attractive sytle between early music, folklore, and even some jazzy touches - and the way she sings all this is wonderful! Excellent, lovingly performed classic variation treatments of French Christmas songs.
  4. You bet me to a minute! Yes, happy and peaceful Holidays to everyone! No snow here, constant drizzling rain trying to keep us from a final visit to the Christmas fair .....
  5. Please note that the unissued tracks are makred"rejected" in the source you linked - this makes it very unlikely they still exist. If there was any usable material from these sessions, Cuscuna would have used it.
  6. Mine is waiting on the Christmas gifts table .... will take a place on the sofa and start reading as soon as we are done with the ceremony.
  7. Looks interesting ... noted down for next year.
  8. Yes - that's the comcept of these "solographies". They are expressively not exhaustive discographies in the strict sense.
  9. https://www.brilliantclassics.com/articles/p/pachelbel-complete-keyboard-music/ Stella is a hard worker: After recording the complete keyboard works of Buxtehude, Böhm, Walther, Reincken, and Froberger he now delivers the complete Pachelbel keyboard works on 13 CDs and passes CPO's recording project, which so far produced seven CDs in two volumes, in one sweep. He uses a copy of a Ruckers harpsichord and a modern organ built after German 17th century models. His choice of tempos and registration are convincing, he always appreciates and loves the music he plays. This volume will help to place Pachelbel in the right position between Southern and Northern German keyboard schools - he was born in Nuremberg in 1653 and had studied with Kerll, among others, who had been with Frescobaldi in Rome - when he took organist's post in Eisennach and Erfurt he made contact with the Bach family. Heb brought some Italian sweetness to Northern music. With his colleague Stefano Molardi covering the organ works of Johann Sebastian, Johann Michael, and Johann Christoph Bach, and Johann Kuhnau, Brilliant Classics gives us a great survey of German keyboard music from the 17th and 18th centuries.
  10. I'll reserve the best for the Christmas days and have some of this for pasta this evening: Pipoli Bianco Greco / Fiano - Basilicata IGP
  11. This one looks very interesting but seems very hard to find .....
  12. Thanks for that link - very interesting!
  13. http://encelade.net/index.php/en/ Just received an advance copy of this January release - excellent, finally the optimal repertoire and playing style for an original Taskin harpsichord.
  14. The piano solo reminds me of some early Argonne Thornton/Sadik Hakim solos with its chromatic runs. That and some Monkish intervals. But was Monk's style known on the scene by the time these tracks were recorded?
  15. What happened this guy? The two tracks for Guild - the other, Groovin' High was rare for a long time - were his only session, Same for the bass player Murray Shipinsky.
  16. At last I got me a copy of this. Much better than I expected - Dennerlein was too busy a player for my taste early in her career but has matured very nicely. I hear a Rhoda Scott influence on this one.
  17. PM sent on the John Patton Mosaic Select.
