  1. The postman delivered the Mosaic Turrentine a moment ago - took four weeks at the lowest shipping rate. Customs were collected at the door, invoice was attached, they had opened tha package to check its contents, which is routine - nothing damaged. All is well ...
  2. ! There are so many jazz greats whose music I love on the list it is hard to make a choice for the HOF ...
  3. Jazz Messengers takes sets from their website when they are out of stock and put them up again as soon as the new batch has arrived.
  4. The Berlin audience had a reputation of being rather unpredictably picky - the boos are not on the record but were heard on the TV broadcast I saw. She was on the same bill as several more modern to avant garde acts, and the jazz fans who had come for those didn't appreciate her, although critics acknowledged O'Day was at the top of her art that evening. The festival directors wanted to present her as a classic vocal jazz artist but didn't their idea across, it seemed.
  5. She was in fine form that evening. Whenever I imagine the dumb Berlin audience booing at her that evening, I get angry.
  6. Great! Bach was influenced by Dieupart, he had his prints or copies of them. This definietly is one of the sources of inspiration for his own (orchestral) suites.
  7. I hesitated to buy this, as I do not like some of Belder's recordings, but got a copy of this at half price - he's very much at home with the music here and sounds good - he just finished the series of 12 CDs. Some ahead of me, it seems.
  8. It is in the field of pre-1600 keyboard music that historically informed performance practice has probably made the greatest progress during the last twenty years. What earlier generation players presented as a dry, scholarly music, now sounds passionate and playful. Corina Marti sounds like a musician from the past who travelled to us to show us how this music can sound when approached properly. Magnificent playing, beautifully sounding instruments and excellent recorded sound - and inexpensive. A perfect introduction to this type of music. Buy any of her CDs with confidence.
  9. The download link doesn't work anymore - I'm in the process of typing all the data into BRIAN and will make it available again after I'm done. Added some new issues and details I found out in the meantime.
  10. I'm close to thumbing through all of my vinyl ...
  11. Same here - all the vinyl I have was bought second hand at Crocodisc in Paris, and it was played!
  12. ..... and it drives you mad that you cannot find them. Latest case in point: Must have displaced it after typing it into my collection database at discogs or The Jazz Discography Online ........
  13. I have much of it on single LPs and CDs but will immediately get one as soon as it runs low, or during the next three months. One of the best piano trios in jazz history, IMO.
