  1. If it's Reunion In Berlin you are looking for: Bear Family has copies of a Vinyl reissue in stock, if that will do for you: https://www.bear-family.de/kuehn-quartet-rolf-und-joachim-re-union-in-berlin-vinyl.html
  2. Seems you're right, as there was no issue of the complete session in the sixties - sonnymax named the CD issues. Can't contribute much to the discussion except that whenever I buy one of the sixties sessions with Nelson I'm musically satisfied, find his range of musical partners pretty amazing, and love his solos. His solo on Stolen Moments never fails to touch my soul. There are not too many who can do that.
  3. Tried to get some black vinyl candles with grooves - but I was told they do not smell good when burned. Hope you get a band matching your tastes for your birthday salute. Keep up the good work and enjoy life as much as you can (I'm sure you do).
  4. When I look at the tracklist I find it to be a rather superficial compilation, not complete (of course not), no B sides (except fo longer two-sided tracks), aimed at the newbie collector rather than the connoisseur - who needs this? 5. ..... today is Satie's 150th birthday! The music I'm listening to right now was published in Naples 440 years ago: Fantastic harpsichord playing!
  6. It's been along time since I listened to it - will give it a try tomorrow.
  7. I had that Nilva LP but sold it - Collins' tone and phrasing were not as fascinating to me as on the older sessions. Maybe I'd hear it differently today ... Found a Billy Taylor Quartet session on H.R.S. (in the Mosaic box) where he is by far the most advanced and compelling musician. As I said, I wish someone would locate this tape: John Collins John Collins (guitar) Milt Hinton (bass) Kenny Clarke (drums) Rudy Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, NJ, May 9, 1953 tk.3 'Tain't Nobody's Business If I Do Blue Note unissued tk.9 Lover Man - tk.12 Untitled Collins Original - tk.14 You Don't Know What Love Is - tk.18 Midnight - tk.21 My Funny Valentine - tk.23 Lover Come Back To Me - tk.24 Out Of Nowhere -
  8. Rondeau is a great talent. As on his debut disc with a Bach selection, he has something new and personal to contribute, but not just for novelty's sake.
  9. Now that is so important! Best wishes!
  10. Thanks all - yes it's the Definitive I have - was the issue readily available when I wanted it, and I have to admit that I like to have it all on two discs in session order.
  11. Do the Contemporary or OJC issues of Hampton Hawes' All Night Session credit the engineer? My reissue does not, and I'm curious ..... Thanks, as always.
  12. Got a copy after a previous recommendation - good selection in excellent sound.
  13. Just wanted to post something of that kind. When the first modern printed edition was prepared, they wanted to make it an "opus" like the 19th century composers or rather first musicologist understood the term of a printed work. But Monteverdi's Verspers are just a compilation of pieces for the performer to choose from depending on liturgical requirements, and was never performed that way. Read an article about Alessandro Scarlatti's Verspers last week which presents similar problems for the modern performer. All caused by removing the music from religious services. It's some beautiful music, of course, but not the body of work like an opera or oratorio.
  14. I see it coming: "Albums covers showing artists with no socks on"
  15. It depends on how your feet sweat and smell. If my socks smell, I change, at least every other day.
  16. Every sock must have at least one hole ....
  17. Suzie LeBlanc has a wonderful voice ...
  18. The remaining five volumes arrived yesterday, listened through Vol. 8 earlier this morning. Now spinning Vol. 2. It is a beautifully realised project, flawlessly done with great commentaries and beautifully recorded on unique original instruments. The definitive Froberger recording to get from now on, highly recommended. I have a lot of Froberger recordings, but this one tops them all.
  19. Remember Ancelotti signed with FC Bayern München for the next season?
  20. His tone on those Capitol sides is absolutely gorgeous! Whenever I think of the trio session with Kenny Clarke cut for a ten inch Blue Note, the tapes of which are lost, I wish there were time machines ...
  21. Very sorry to hear this - bought his first Steeple Chase album after hearing a track on locla radio and liked his playing ever since. 59 is way too young ... I feel like an old man at 62 whenever I read news like this. R.I.P. http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=478&artikel=6423627
  22. I'll gladly wait.
