  1. Without his releases I never would have heard some of the rare West Coast stuff - thanks, and R.I.P. He gave us those last Monk Trio recordings!
  2. Track 3 is from the late 1950's. None of the guys guessed, so far. I'm not a fan of Gato on his own records but like him immensely here.
  3. Well Dan, I know our tastes are different, so five out of fourteen isn't that bad. 😊
  4. Except for Gato, none of your guesses are correct, sorry. It all may be harder than l thought ...
  5. Tadah! First guess accomplished. There was much talk about Sam Jones on the forum in recent weeks, so l thought this would be first one.
  6. You're closer than you think!
  7. I just ran this last post through a translator - definitely spam! it's an ad for an online casino website.
  8. This one I just bought from a Dutch discogs seller:
  9. 1 is Grooveyard, but, as you said, not played by Perkins. 9 is a Sam Jones tune, but not that one - I can hear the melodic similarities, though. Right! Thanks for the nice comments. So this is a percussion heavy BFT? Well, probably, compared to most.
  10. Ugh - I have that CD. I am amazed at how different it sounds on headphones from my computer compared to my Hifi - almost like a different mix of the track! The synthetic sound of the electric grand that Palmieri probably plays (or the way it was recorded) and the LP brand percussion is much more evident on headphones. I must admit Palmieri never was a real top favourite of mine, considering how important a figure he is. That band was great, excellent players, and I bought it right away when it was issued, but didn't listen to it very often. I prefer the older Cuban sound with wooden drums and cowhide. Thanks Dan - will have to listen omce more with the Reveal at hand. I do not understand that I didn't recognize Ralph Moore.
  11. Hi my friends, the bazar is open! Nothing too sophisticated this time, no real theme except that it is a collection of tracks that have grown on me over the years, some rarities, and some that I thought would make great Blindfold Test items. As is the custom here, guesses are nice, but I am more interested in what you think about the music. Enjoy! Thanks for listening! https://thomkeith.net/index.php/blindfold-tests/
  12. Coleman Hawkins with Georges Arvanitas, Jimmy Woode, Kansas Fields in 1962 from Belgian TV, shown on djazz.
  13. I don't think so. The tapes from the audition were erased because no contract was made.
  14. Beautiful music, excellent performance. A rather underrated compser. Platti was very important for spreading Italian stylistics in Germany in the first half of the 18th century.
