  1. Dem Bastards at Dusty Groove have a 1975 session (Japanese issue) Jazz Bank cd of Art Pepper with a band that includes my man Blue Mitchell as well as Buddy Collette and Harold Land. anyone heard this one? Worth a pricy $21.99?
  2. Well, what's the word about how good this set has turned out to be? Inquiring minds wanna know..... Give us the scoop......
  3. Johnny: Sounds good! I'll try to make your gig here in Portland. Just sent you a PM. -Jeff
  4. (INQUIRING MINDS WANNA' KNOW ) What's the best shipped price around for the Desmond book? I heard Barnes and Noble has the book for 30% off. Maybe that's the way to go-probably will be awhile before there are many used mint (reviewers) copies around?.....
  5. I saw Bennett last month at the Indy Jazz Festival. I came in a bit of a skeptic but left totally blown away. He was incredible.... The audience went crazy with numerous standing ovations. He did 3 encores before the crowd would let him go.
  6. It's so hard to know which of the RVG and Verve LPR that yourmusic.com will be getting... I had just bought the new LPR that are now listed. At least though I only paid $6.99 each-plus shipping at the J & R sale. It could have been worse.....
  7. Has anyone else not even received a single reply for J & R on their order? I made my order 3 days ago and it still shows "Processing"-not even a confirmation of a single cd in stock-let alone anything shipping. I requested in the order that they ship whatever was in stock. Anyone else wait longer than I have to get any confirmation from them? I guess I've been spoiled by da' Bastards at the Groove, where everything ships out the next day...
  8. Check out the top bidder's Feedback- all Mosaic purchases. He's from Italy-maybe a jazz lover with a vineyard in Tuscany. If I didn't love my Mosaic collection so much, I'd send him an e-mail-then prepare to retire early.... I'd have enough to pay for my next heart surgery.. If the Rogers set fetches $100+ per cd..... just think what he'll be paying for a first issue Blue Note lp..
  9. Chuck: I am getting into this discussion a little late. What is the recording date, location, and sidemen on this session? Don Manning, who lives here in Portland and played drums in some club dates with Bird in LA, has been playing up this release for a few years. Thanks, Jeff
  10. Anybody getting the new Van Morrison cd coming out tomorrow-"Magic Time"? His tenure with Blue Note was short-this one is on Geffen. The sound samples on AMG show it to be a diverse mix of styles. It got a rave review there. Van is probably the only non-jazz musician that I follow closely. May be worth checking out? B-)
  11. Mark: Sent you a PM on this set! Jeff
  12. Yes, i have this one as well! I found it in the bargain bins at Amoeba! A good find.
  13. Mark; I can burn and bring you a copy if you have no luck finding an original copy. Jeff
  14. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Matt's work-as I have his Cannonball print and it is STUNNING I have received many compliments from people who marvel at its accuracy. For a music room or as a gift, you can't go wrong... The website does not do justice to the quality of his work. And for not much more than the price of a cd...
  15. More great photos, Mark! A stage of jazz royalty.....
  16. Hey, Matt: I have some "credit" here.. I'd love the Cannonball drawing! No shipping charges needed! -Jeff (Portland)
  17. I live in Portland and Mel Brown is the REAL deal. He is easily one of the best drummers on the West Coast in a tasty laid back way. He is the first choice drummer for out of state talent coming to town-and has been the primary drummer for later years Motown talent. An earlier rendition of one of his bands won the Playboy Jazz Festival Talent Search competition in LA 'round 10 years ago.. His weekly gigs at Jimmy Maks in Portland-Hammond B-3 group, a "Jazz Messengers" type sextet and/or Quintet featuring Warren Rand, Stan Bock, the great Thara Memory on trumpet are beyond high energy-they play non-stop 2 one hour plus gigs, blending one tune into the next. GET THAT CD-Louis Payne is a dynamite B-3 man. Mel Brown deserves nationwide props-he's that good-he's just chosen to stay in the Northwest. (Winard Harper gave him big time praise the last time he was in town.)
  18. GUY: MERCI BEAUCOUP..... -Jeff
  19. Thanks, Brownie! It was much fun meeting you 2 Summers ago-although just briefly. You must almost be retired about now-you lucky fellow I thought of you lately when I saw a documentary about the French court system-I believe it was called "District Court 10." It was made by a documentarian who helped run an UPI/AP like photo agency in Paris-evidently he is quite famous! Hope you are doing well! Jeff Krow
  20. HEY, ALLAN, TJOBBE, MARK, & BIG AL..... Your cds went out today.... Lookin forward to spendin' some of my "credit." You guys can now list all your hidden treasures-but send me a PM first so I can be first on the draw.. -Jeff
  21. TJOBBE: Just sent you a PM requesting your address for shipping. I will send out your cd by Air Mail to Germany. ENJOY!! Jeff
  22. Guess what, the 2 other copies we found in Portland's premiere record shop of the RVG cd/DVD also only came with the cd- NO RUDY INTERVIEW. Needless to say they reimbursed my $13.99. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to watch Rudy on my TV..... Until I get an all clear-I will not try the internet shops. Pretty weird- no one else out there with similar issue.... -Jeff
  23. MARK: I'D LOVE THE PATTON CD BIG TIME.... JEFF
