THANKS, GUY!! Deep Discount has the Quebec but for some reason does not (yet) list the Mobley. Wonder why?

Locally I can find the new 2/15 RVGs at no better than $10.99. Who has the best SHIPPED price out there? CD universe wants $3.99 to ship the 2 that I want-Heavy Soul & Hi Voltage-which pretty much negates their $8.39 price after shipping. Tower wants $11.99 but no shipping since order would be over their $20 threshold. What's a cheapskate to do-just wait the 3-5 mos till yourmusic.com sells them for $4.99/5.99??? (I only have burns of these 2 RVG...) Hard to be patient while you big spenders rave about your RVG copies....

I have both of them and dig them a lot. The Gordon is just a notch below the Newman in my opinion if you plan on just buying one. The Newman with fellow Basie sidemen swings hard... Get 'em both-our friends at Dusty Groove have them both usually.

ALLEN: Just sent you an e-mail about the France cd. -Jeff

Are they available online at J&R? I tried typing in Spanish Blue Note, Time/Life, etc. with no luck. Any hints....

Anyone know which K2 Remasters are being offered at yourmusic.com ? Using the Advanced Search on the website you can't tell. Have anyone's K2's arrived yet? Thanks!
-
Does anyone have a list of the K2 for sale by BMG or Yourmusic.com? Or should I just look for OJC listed as "Remastered?" THANKS!!

GUILTY AS CHARGED.... I visit their site weekly and place one or two orders a month. They ship immediately and their prices are reasonable especially on Lone Hill type material.

Musical Marine: Just sent you an e-mail on one of the Brown/Roach Emarcy cds. Jeff -
I tried to join again following the link. I was able to get to the $4.99 home page, but when I attempted to enter my ID info it took me to a page that showed all cds-$5.99. Further it states in their fine print for cancellation that when you cancel your membership they still ship you the cds on your list at $5.99 before closing your account. Strange?? Anyone else figure how to cancel and rejoin at $4.99? It's pretty weird that they have 2 different memberships.. Maybe the $4.99 membership gets you backordered cds only Maybe I'll just stick with $5.99 and pretend to be happy B-) I have received all the cds I've ordered. 2 days ago I ordered 3 of the BN Connoisseurs: Wilson, Hill, and Hutcherson. I don't want to jeopardize that order Advice?

Kevin: I'm already a member of your music.com When I followed the link you posted it took me to the Home page-with cds at $5.99 each. Are you sure you guys got $4.99 each? If so, I wonder if I can change my membership to $4.99?? Anyone else have this issue as well? Jeff

I picked up Fuller's "Up Jumped Spring" recently and am really impressed with this cd-all standards-with Chicago musicians-including Brad Goode on trumpet. Very clean, clear recording-and Fuller-at least on this 2003 recording-still really has his chops. If as previously posted, he's blowing on one lung-it's a MF strong lung. I just wish Curtis would come out to the Northwest-he remains high on my list of BN legends, I'd love to catch while they still are with us-McLean, Byrd, Fuller, Hubbard... I know their best days are long ago, but still.... Guess, us West Coasters will have to make the NYC pilgrimage. Anyone else out there surprised and pleased with this session?

Anyone taken the plunge and bought/received the Seven Steps boxset for $41.93 from yourmusic.com I wonder if it will have different packaging (no metal spine?) at this price? Anyone know?

Terribly sad news about a fellow forum member
jazzkrow replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
I bought m first JRVG from Ken (Grey), just to be able to say that I had one. I remember always being disappointed because his initial sales posting would always go up while I was sleeping on the West Coast and your East Coast folks scarved up the goodies at 6-7 AM your time. My sympathies go out to his family and close friends..... RIP, Ken! -
I went into the yourmusic.com site. Looks interesting-especially with NO shipping charges-and all cds only $5.99. The only catch is that you have to agree to purchase one cd per month-and they will charge your card for the $5.99 even if you do not place an order. Some of their box sets are cheaper on the BMG site. Has anyone in our group joined yet? I'd be curious about your experience.... May be worth dumping BMG for this company. I wonder if they get everything as soon as BMG does??

BIG AL: ALL the Reece sessions are top notch that make up the Select. Star Bright & Soundin Off are every bit as good as "Comin On" IMHO... (Tough to find individually as well....) Get this Select-you won't regret it. Jeff

Larry Johnson was a new name to me-his playing and singing were impressive. Has he recorded any lps/cds? Jeff

Anybody else out there seen "Lightning in a Bottle"-the Blues tribute concert now in the theatres? What a line-up-BB, Buddy Guy, Solomon Burke, Dr. John, Hubert Sumlin, Mavis Staples, Gatemouth, and many, many others. The cinematography, and concert sound were impeccable. It's a must buy when/if it comes out on DVD. Brought me back to my blues loving days at the Fillmore West in the late 60's. B-)

Man, that current BMG offer of free shipping with a 5 cd purchase brings the Brubeck "For All Time" set to $17.99 SHIPPED. Well under $4.00 a cd Can't beat that price... I just bought 5 SACD: 3 Dylan issues, the Monk/Coltrane, and the Shaft soundtrack-$5.99 each-with no shipping it's too good to pass up. This is their best sale in ages. VISA will like me next month.

Seldom do I get SO excited about a new find. So it was a real treat when I opened my latest package from the #@*^@ at Dusty Groove and pulled out the Fresh Sound re-issue of "Little Band Big Jazz" by Conte Candoli's All Stars-originally issued by Crown Records (lp) in 1960. I've heard that it was also issued with Vince Guaraldi as the leader. I expected some swinging West Coast Jazz but nothing that would knock me out. Man, was I wrong....... This cd is SO soulful in the best of the hard bop vein. Each of the bandmembers shines: Buddy Collette sticking to tenor sax matches Candoli lick for lick in ensemble playing-you'd swear you're listening to a Blue Note prime 60's date. His solos will have you nodding in ecstasy. Vince Guaraldi's swinging blues lines are a revelation-no "Peanuts" sleepy piano lines here-I've never heard Vince play like this before. Leroy Vinnegar: what can you say about Leroy that has not been said before-steady as a rock, always in the pocket-dependable as you can get. Stan Levey: clean cymbal work and right up front-whomever did the mastering on this session for Fresh Sound needs a raise! and lastly, CONTE!! As soulful as ANY prime 60's Byrd, or Hubbard-clear, warm, strong, and swinging so hard. WHAT A SESSION.. The only shame is that you get only 28:54 of music, but they make every second count-not a weak moment. And a great color shot of the band in session on the cover. Give the "bastards" at the Groove your $12.99 and listen to this "Little Band" make BIG JAZZ... Guaranteed that you will hit the replay button on your cd player-and wonder why this session was kept locked up for so long. If this session had been released on Blue Note, it would fit in nicely as one of their classic issues. CHECK IT OUT.......
