  1. I have been listening toand now own some Audiophile 180 gram remastered LPs from Purepleasure out of England. They have re-released many classic rock, blues, and jazz LPs. Including Laura Nyro (New York Tendaberry), Muddy Waters, some Black and Blue re-issues, i.e. Budd Johnson, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan (Roulette issue), Duke Ellington, etc. I have found the acoustics to be exemplary. The LPs are pricey ($30-35 range) but well worth it Anyone else out there discovered this label? A Search showed no topics yet-unless I used the wrong Search parameters. Jeff
  2. The new Joey D is now out. I dig the Diversi and Jerry Weldon plays a mean tenor. The Diversi site mentions Joey playing with Lonnie Smith and Reuben Wilson next week at the Iridium. That would be a sweet show to catch... Joey is touring the country playing the Diversi and doing clinics. He has bought into the Diversi company as part owner!
  3. Still can't get any comments about the sound quality and extra goodies in this set? Inquiring minds want to know.. THANKS!
  4. Any more comments now on this set since it has been out for awhile as to both audio and video quality and whether book is well written? Very curious to find out!
  5. Peter: I'm battling the impulse-but afraid if someone raves about the "extras" (cool blue vinyl LP), then I'll probably give in to the impulse! Drat!
  6. Can someone who bought this set comment on its sound quality, and the extras they throw in-poster, book, etc.? I'm curious as what people think of the price vs value? Are the "extras" that special to justify purchasing the box set for those of us who already have the CD/SACD? THANKS!
  7. GREAT NEWS! Due to a $50,000 cash infusion from Alaska Airlines, the Portland Jazz Festival is back on! Hopefully, they will continue with a Blue Note 70th Anniversary theme This is super news for us Northwesterners! Jeff
  8. Alec is one great guy to offer this service! THANKS, ALEC!!!
  9. As a Portlander, I am very bummed about this :bwallace2: The 2009 Festival in Feb was supposed to be dedicated to the 70th Anniversay of Blue Note Records and both Cuscuna and Lundvall were supposed to come out here for a panel discussion as well. The artistic director, Bill Royston, from Philly, had indicated that he was trying to bring out some of the older BN artists such as Sam Rivers, Lonnie Smith and Lou Donaldson, and others to balance out the current roster of less interesting (to me) BN artists. Royston claimed that the Portland Festival was to be the "official" 70th Anniversary BN Festival-which I kind of doubted to be true... Does anyone know of any other 2009 Jazz Festival that have similar plans? If so, I am definetely interested to check out other Festivals in 2009 that will have a Blue Note Theme and would plan a vacation around those dates...
  10. I've been looking for this spendy 16 Cd box set. Anyone seen it around at under $150? I've checked all the usual sources with no luck at a reasonable price...
  11. Alec! Just sent you a PM. Jeff
  12. DAN: I'll take Lonnie Smith: Lenox and Seventh (Black and Blue)

    Hank Jones

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HANK! My FAVORITE piano player... so glad you are still playing!
  14. Per Mosaic they are down to under 60 sets of the Eldridge. Just bought mine (as well as the Basie set at 15% off..)
  15. Same weekly reply received once again... I even tried Borders with same result. There are copies of this set available if you want to spend $50+ for this under $22 list price set.. These vendors-Circuit City, Artists Direct, etc.- should just pull this set from their sites as they are unable to fulfill the orders placed.
  16. PM sent on the One for All CDs Thanks
  17. Unfortunately, "accepting" is not the same thing as "filling" your order. Both Amazon and Circuit City "accepted" previous orders, then could not fill the order. Fingers crossed for you...
  18. maybe at $65 it is available-but not at under $20.....
  19. Van Basten: Did they confirm they could get this set at this price and more importantly that they could actually get it? Others have advertised the set but can never get it! I tried to find a phone number for this company but had no luck!
  20. Up for air... Any of you bargain hunters out there, have any luck finding this set at a reasonable price?
  21. Anybody have any recent luck finding this set at anything near the original under $25 advertised price? I put in an order at Circuit City-now 2+ weeks with no luck Amazon, CD Universe, and recently Borders all list at a very high price over $50.... Dusty Groove does not have it on their radar for future purchase- Would be nice to have all this material (12 CDs worth) all in one place!
  22. Dem Bastards at Dusty Groove have two intriguing reissues-John Patton's "Soul Connection" (with Grachan Moncur)- and Alvin Queen's "Jammin Uptown" (from mid 80's) Any comments out there about the quality of these sessions? Both sound intriguing especially the Patton as I've never heard about that title before. May have been issued under both Moncur and Patton's names per AMG... Worth picking up? THANKS!
  23. I picked up a copy of the West Coast Classics Sampler CD last week at my local CD store. I have most of the series and thought someone on the Board could use the 12 song Sampler to complete their collection of the entire set. There are no liner notes provided-just song titles. Anybody interested in a trade for another West Coast jazz cd from the 50s-early 60s? Appears to be one track from each of the 12 Cds in the Series...
  24. GREAT GOING MARK! Looking forward to seeing THE photo chosen for publication/poster! CONGRATS!
