No, I had no idea. I haven't followed their individual careers that closely. I have a few Abraham's releases and I think Buck's solo recording from a few years ago is marvellous. He has a 3 day residency at Oto soon I think

That's interesting, nor do I. I usually choose if I want to listen to studio or live and then almost randomly select If the proverbial gun was to my head I'd choose 'Mosquito/See Through' or 'Townsville'. How's 'Photosynthesis'? One of the few I've not tracked down

Thanks, yes flate rate $30. Not the cheapest -
Greg, Alan's twin, obviously. Not as famous perhaps I'd imagined there are many Australians who don't like the sacred game. My reference was more because of the connection with The Necks introducer I just listened to 'Travel' again and enjoyed it the most so far. I often find it takes some time to get under the skin of a new album. Superficially they can sound like just another The Necks album but they reveal their different characters with attention. Do you have particular albums you return to a lot?
-
And as to whether they play Jazz or not, I gave up trying to square that circled years ago. They play The Necks music but I will say that I do hear a strong musical sympathy with Alice Coltrane. This may be because the first time I heard them was on an Australian colleague's iPod in 2005 when he suggested I listen to 'Sex' and that bass line still makes me think of Satchidananda. The shared love of that album that summer did a lot for any strains caused by the Ashes 😄 (always wanted to drop a cricket reference onto Organissimo...)

Huge fan. Have most of their official recordings and a few concert recordings too. Seen them a few times now, never fail to be interesting and more often than not a lot more than that. Interestingly, 'Travel' hasn't had the immediate impact of most of their releases although I do tend to prefer the recorded performances rather than studio albums. That being said I do like this new 20 minute improvisation approach.

With you there Clifford Thinking about it more I now remember that it was a lump sum and a number in the hundreds of copies of the new LP for Mr Albach to do with as he wished. It was the Jesse Sharpe's reissue. Interestingly, Nimbus W subsequently did their own reissue of the title which I also bought. Looking at Discogs now and all the Outernational Sounds Nimbus W reissues have been updated to 'Unofficial' by someone -

That's interesting. I had quite a long chat with Harv about his Nimbus West reissues in Honest Jon's, where he was behind the counter, as I bought one a few years back. He told a different story of what I think I recall was a one-off payment deal to T.Albach for the permission to reissue. He was glowing in how he described his relationship with Mr. Albach. Obviously this statement puts a different perspective on things. I haven't received a response to my email about international shipping and it's still not available through the website -

Emailed about the shipping to UK. Interested to see what they quote -
What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

Really enjoying my first exposure to this, thank you John. A revelation! -
A couple of usually reliable sources online, Gilles Peterson and Dust To Digital, reporting that Carlos Garnett has died. https://www.instagram.com/p/CpXYuKYMBgK/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= https://twitter.com/ecrocamo/status/1631834529928298498?t=Y4U2Ky4L4J-csBHKAY-QeQ&s=19

Peter Brötzmann & Jason Adasiewicsz - Going All Fancy [Eremite] I played 'High Life' last night and agree, it's a strong album Didn't know about the 'Schizophrenia' TP, I have the Connoisseur LP so not sure I'll upgrade

Wayne Shorter - Schizophrenia [Blue Note, Connoisseur 1995]

Just such a great legacy. Sad but he did seem to be more frail each time he was in public recently. 89 years, that's a good innings.
-
No not very surprised Pim, you always have good taste 😄
-
Claude Decloo, Arthur Jones - Africanasia [BYG, France 1969] Arthur Jones - Scorpio [BYG, France 1971] revisiting Arthur Jones, love his playing. On listening today I'm surprised that he hasn't been rediscovered by the 'Spiritual Jazz' crowd, he ticks a lot of their boxes.
-
Yeah, I have, many years ago and didn't get on with it all. I'm not a huge guitar fan and McLaughlin leaves me largely cold so I haven't revisited. Not sure that I haven't sold it on
-
Holiday fever! 😄
-
It is, I purchased it just because it's a new JC album and I'm pleased I did

Lucky you!

And this one is special too https://www.discogs.com/master/841138-Jimmy-Webb-Ten-Easy-Pieces https://youtu.be/NpBumzaAigU Apologies can't get image/videos to show using my phone for some reason
-
That is a great album That's lovely, thanks
-
Completely agree about Jimmy Webb. For me 'Wichita Lineman' just shades 'Galveston'. He wrote sort stories masquerading as songs. His run of songs is astounding in that period. He plays in London surprisingly often and I really must go and see him

Lots of great music there to fill 2 months, enjoy!
