  1. This is sad, such a great talent. Sounds like he'd not been in the best of health I'm with you on the Morelenbaum collaborations. More recently his work with Alva Noto was mighty impressive. Let's face it his talent ranged far and wide from YMO onwards
  2. Marion Brown - Vista, [ABC Impulse!, 1975] To think I had this lined up for the next clear out. No way, absolute gem of an album
  3. Julius Hemphill - Blue Boye [Mbari, 1977] possibly my favourite Hemphill
  4. Exactly this. Increasingly anachronistic business model means they'll probably just continue to fade away.
  5. Bought my first two big box CD sets in my late 30s when it became easy to do so online, followed by a bunch of Selects and my other three big LP boxes in late 50s. I'm now likely to sell the first two. I'm fairly agnostic about Mosaic, I don't like the alternates running together and really can't see why they can't feature original art work. Much prefer owning individual albums as they become available. I agree with a lot of what TTK says on the other thread
  6. I have learnt so much from here over the 20 years, most of it useful 😀 I hate to think how much I have spent in direct response to posts
  7. Yes, I agree. It kept pulling me back into it when I'd finished it. There's a lot going on, on many levels. It does betray the fact it's a live event where listening like this misses the visual input and impact. That aside it's a statement, definitely
  8. I listened to it three times yesterday. I'll be interested to read what JSngry makes of it. I also prefer her first album over subsequent releases
  9. Them Devon folk...
  10. Joe Henderson - Tetragon, 1969 reissue. Coming from Australia (hopefully)
  11. yes, it does doesn't it. Thinkig about it more, I remember now being surprised at depth of his mental ill health at the time of watching it A well respected news outlet over here, I think it's fair to say
  12. I don't remember this documentary touching on his death or not but I do remember it being a warm tribute to him. I could only find the trailer but it's streamable on Amazon Prime over here so maybe available in US and elsewhere too
  13. No complete 'Rings' that I could find quickly
  14. Thanks for the link and 👍🏼 on your assessment of Togashi. Have you heard 'Rings' or 'The Face Of Percussion ' both solo recordings? Well worth spending time with
  15. That's been on the wantlist for a while
  16. Thanks, yes, sold out now. Friend disappointed ☹️
  17. Did they have any more copies? Asking for a friend...
  18. Absolutely, and nor do I Great album
  19. Thanks. I got in touch with Red Records, they are releasing remastered CD and LP in September
  20. Thanks that's a really interesting development. Unfortunately the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble release is "no longer available" at Jazz Messengers. Hopefully they'll restock as I've been after that for a long time.
  21. Sorry, thought this was a joke rather than just making fun of a foreign name
  22. Always fancied a copy of 'Seant' but prices are steep for the first Polish presses. I'll be interested to hear what folk have to say about Nahorny too
  23. That's a good one. Purchased my LP from another board member a few years ago now. And another terrific album. Togashi really did make some great recordings
  24. Didn't know of it. Great line-up
  25. Seconded. I thought he seemed in pretty fine fettle at Oto last month. I do remember reading somewhere recently that he suffers from COPD which if that's been exacerbated by playing and traveling could well be the breakdown to which he refers. https://twitter.com/burn_amb/status/1638970211306196992?t=gETA_kA436CYOti7hVQOmQ&s=19
