  1. Yes, I like their version too
  2. Or it presents a pretty good core collection for someone new to the music presented in a way that reflects current market trends for "distinctiveness". If something like this selection had been released as I was getting into Jazz I'd have had my head turned. I don't see a bad thing here just something for a different target audience than most on this forum.
  3. She thought she was smart but found out she's just bargain basement. Dangerously so.
  4. That is a great cover, wonder what the music is like
  5. Me too and the Yusef Lateef as my original pressing is battered
  6. Interesting line up, good to see Rogers and Boni involved. Hopefully there will be a recording
  7. Great, enjoy your treasure trove. A great price too
  8. Cannonball Adderley Sextet - San Francisco Revisited [Riverside, UK 1963 mono] Really enjoying this new arrival. I've slept on this band, don't know why as I hoover up Lateef.
  9. 30LP?!!! Well done, hope the buyer gave a nice discount
  10. I was hoping Steve would chime in. I've been thinking a bit more about it and would mention Spacetime, I think, which stands out on contrast as it had a number of shorter tracks. Not better just different. All my CDs are boxed at the moment so I can't check, sorry
  11. Honestly, I can't split them. When I want to listen to them I usually make a blind grab. It may be more about availability.
  12. Start anywhere with Musician, all the albums are very high quality. if you want a title then 'Poem about a hero' should see you right Can't think of that Dean band off the top of my head, will have a think. Quick Discogs search turns up these but not a lot else, couple of duo albums and a sax quartet. Perhaps it went unrecorded https://www.discogs.com/release/2779642-Elton-Dean-Quintet-Silent-Knowledge https://www.discogs.com/release/2314796-Elton-Dean-Paul-Dunmall-Tony-Levin-2-Paul-Rogers-2-Roswell-Rudd-Keith-Tippett-Bladik
  13. I think I probably bought the LP following your enthusiasm for it, thank you!
  14. Track 6. is 'Jog Falls Spinning Song' from Gil Mellé's Tome VI I'm pleased my comments were positive about as I have a copy! I have just played it to confirm. Thanks for the hints and sleuthing above
  15. Gil Mellé - Tome VI [Verve, 1968] doing research for @JSngry's BFT...I'd forgotten how good this album is
  16. Yes, and yes again. I'd had three doses and I caught it a couple of months ago. Two days feeling very unwell indeed (far worse than flu) several just under par and a couple of weeks of hangover fatigue. I have an underlying chronic condition of the lungs so had been doing my utmost to avoid it but it got me nonetheless. I was so pleased I'd had the vaccine doses as without I would probably have been in hospital. Booster next week for me.
  17. Theaster Gates & The Black Monks Of Mississippi at Serpentine Pavillion Just extraordinary
  18. I played my copy for the first time in ages recently and noticed the cover variation too. I prefer the European cover which is a shame as my copy is the US one. Off hand I can't think of other such ECM variants but I've not looked...yet 😀
  19. Wadada Leo Smith - String Quartets Nos. 1-12 [TUM Records, 2022] disc.1, start of a long journey
  20. This one, perhaps? https://jamaaladeentacuma.bandcamp.com/album/the-liberation-of-sound
